Child name server vs Name Server on a domain...?

So I setup BIND on a server, however I logged into my domain register companies site.(stargate.com) They no longer allow you to enter in an IP address to go along with the name server. However they have a section labeled child name server that allows you to enter in an IP address to go with a name server.

How exactly do I go about setting this up? I was thinking putting ns.domain.com and ip address under child name, and just the ns.domain.com under name server.

Anyone have any ideas?

If you want to point ns#.domain.com to an IP do two things:
1) Register ns1.yoursite.com to the IP
2) Point your site to ns1.yoursite.com

Registering and pointing your site to a nameserver are two entirely different things. If you tell me where you registered it, I can probably find step by step instructions for you.

Registered at stargate.com, the thing is under the nameserver section, they don't have a section to enter in an IP address, they have had that in the past. However under the childnameserver section it offers a spot to enter and ip address and ns.domain.com

I found that already, that was the old control panel, that made perfect sense... The new one on the other hand... I'll get screen shots in a minute of it now.

I would assume so...

the most important part is to associate your custom nameserver with the proper IP...I'm sure you know that already though
