Chieftec Matrix Carbon Black and Silver Case with Window, $19.97 +S/H

I ordered the total silver case with the solid side panel and fan for $19.97 + $14.34 shipping on 1/5 and received it on 1/10 and have already moved everything to the new case. The door is nice since all my drives are various beige colors and I don't need to replace them now.

It is a nice caes, easy to work in and the Thermaltake variable speed PSU and CPU fans are much louder than the 3 80mm case fans. The only problem I have is that I can't get the Soyo SY-P4i865PE mobo USB connector to power the front case USB ports.

I order most of my stuff from newegg.com when they have free shipping. However, I've never had a problem with TigerDirect.com and their shippping prices are better than newegg shipping prices if you have to pay shipping.

thumbs up for this case - I've got the Antex 1030 as well (which this essentially is - minus the front ports) and it is *very* solid construction.

The only two things I'd like to see them adopt are the 120mm fans and 90o side mounted 3.5" drive bays - like in the Raidmax Scorpio, which I bought recently for a friend...those were nice!

Good find ,though...and I've had good interactions with TD

Jumped in on this. Tried to get the blue one the other day, but my order status shows it as being on backorder. Anyway, I like the black and silver and especially the clear side pannel. As soon as I know this order has been processed, I'll cancel the blue on on backorder.

Thanks OP!

Great deal. I have this case right now, except mine doesn't have the front usb + firewire ports. I bought mine about a year ago and cooling is great. The possible drawback is that it's a bit heavy, but I only have to lug it around maybe twice a year, so it's not bad. When I bought mine last year, I bought it for almost $90 + shipping...so it cost me $100+. Yeah, I got PWNED, but this deal is truly pwnage. Thanks OP.

if theres no rebates, the worst thing you're going to have to worry about from tiger direct is their shipping packaging... it usually ends up being one bag of air and thats it. in the case of the case, i'm guessing it;ll just be delivered as it, since there will (should) be styrofoam to protect it

I snagged one and a Diablo 420w power supply. I've been looking to upgrade my elcheapo case for a while now as part of a project to quiet it down a bit. Flimsy cases really do amplify fan noise, as I found out 🙁

Picked up a pair, especially since they have the front side USB/Firewire ports. And $20 for shipping. No rebate.
Now to junk some of the old cases.

Got one today. They had about 8 left in the Naperville, IL store. I'm not sure if they pull floor inventory for internet/phone orders though. I should have bought two, but I already have too much stuff to sell and these takeup space.

As far as these cases go, they can not be beat for $20 (+ tax for me - REALLY cheap). I usually stick to Antec cases (1040's and PLUSview1000's) and have built about 15 machines around these cases. As for the fans, my wife has 5 speeze fans in hers and it is LOUD. I have 5 Antec LED fans and it's noticeabely quieter (silent when her's is on). I added a fan controller to mine and it's even quieter. Be sure to use low noise fans and you'll be ok.

It's sold out now.

I recieved the purple one yesterday; it took less than 48 hours from the time I ordered it Wednesday to Friday when it was received. It's a nice-looking purple, so I don't feel too badly about missing out on the black and silver case.

I'm glad someone confirmed that these are exact copies of the heavy Antecs. It looked like an Antec to me from the pictures, but you can never be too sure. I have an old Antec steel case and a new Antec Super Lanboy. What a HUGE difference between the 2! The Super Lanboy is so lght that it scares me. I'm in the Marines, so I move a lot, and the old Antec has made it through a lot of moves without a dent. I was worried about the Super Lanboy in that respect, so that's why I got one of these. Gonna try to sell the Super Lanboy I guess🙂

I almost ordered the Purple one last week. Even had it in my cart and decided to think about it. Just wasn't sure about the color. Did a refresh and it was out of stock.

Then this popped up Friday and I jumped on it. Got it today and I am very pleased. Nice case, plenty of room and heavy. Excellent deal!

Ordered Friday - arrived today. Much larger than the Mid I'm accustomed to but looks to be a sweet deal.

-thanks op

If anyone is interested in selling one, PM me ... I missed out on on this deal (and the rest of the Chieftec cases on TD).

got mine this morning. I cut out the fan grills with my dremel, now i just have to find some black spray-paint to cover those ugly purple fan holders with 🙂

does anyone know how the hell these drive rail things work? this is only my 2nd case and my first just used screws for the drives...

Ditto. I believe that was prolly the best bargain on a PC part that I've got to date. This is a NICE case! That was the first time I ordered from TD. I might have to try them again.

Just found the Chieftec ATX-601AW at Axiontech for $22.95 + $12.78 for UPS ground to So Calif. This case is identical to the Antec 8xx family.

Good stuff.

The rails acttach to the device (CD/DVD/etc.) and they slide in from the front. The only real trick is hooking up the IDE cable and audio when its halfway in (while you still have room to work).
