Which one would you choose, and why?

Would the stock cooling in the Antec SLK3700AMB be acceptable (i.e. I want the system to run for more than a year or two) for the following system:

AMD XP2500+
512 MB TwinMOS DDRRAM
Hightech Excalibur Radeon 9000 Pro
Maxtor bleh DiamondMaxPlus9Bleh (8 MB cache, 120 GB, 7200 rpm)
Lite-on CD-RW
LG DVD-ROM
ASUS A7N8X

I would get the Chieftec since you can get the blow hole on the side optionally. The Antec, which I have, is holding heat and I cannot find an optional side panel with a blow hole in it. I got two 120mm fans running and still not that cool. The problem is the video card is putting out too much heat. You can add the slot blower to cool it down a little.

I have the 3700 witha similar setup (1700+ @1840Mhz, 2 optical drives, Maxtor plus 9, 8500le). I am running with only the 120mm exhaust. Case temps are in the low to mid 30's. CPU temps with a decent but cheap HSF are 41 idle up to high 40's running Prime95.

I would expect that case to work just fine for you. Side intakes for the CPU are very effective, but they add noise. The stock cooling with the 3700 is plenty for all but the hottest systems out there. I can't imagine why the 3700 is not working for Bad Dude, the exaust fan should be able to pull out the heat from just about any video card.

Will any of these work on your antec?
Edit: link works now.

I think your two choices are pretty much a horse apiece as far as features. My box is similar to yours in an SLK3700 and I really like it. This may seem like a minor, or maybe a non-issue, but I really like the fact that the lower HDD cage on the SLK3700 pulls out straight to the side rather than towards the back of the case. If you have a long PCI or AGP card, the Chieftec case may not be as friendly while taking out the bays without removing the card.

Nope. It won't fit my case. The side panel won't fit as the snap on won't match.

The case is great but I am thinking that my Asus P4PE board is reporting high temps. It's seem like not many people still have this board to report to my confirmation that the board is giving out high temp. I had the Gigabyte on a cheaper case and it was 34C CPU idle. The video card is given out high temp and the air circulate make the CPU runs hotter. I had to use a slot blower and put another low speed 9cm fan blowing right on the video card. The zalman FB123 will work if you cannot mod and add the fan.
Other than that, the system never crash due to heat. It's just the high temps that make me feel uneasy. However, if I let the fans run full speed, the temp will drop but it's too noisy. So I plug all fans on the "fan only" plug on my True Power 430W, except for the CPU Sunon 9cm fan which is running full speed.

I have the Antec SLK3700AMB, I also installed a Zalman bracket.

Remove the stamped grills and it works better. Other wise this case gets hot easily.

Im considering doing a mod, and adding side fans.
