CHICKEN POX

Yes, all caps.

My little snuggly boy seems to have it. Either that or it is smallpox and we are all going to die. 😛 Of course, he has had his vaccine... but it doesn't actually prevent chicken pox. It just helps you get it less severely. Charming.

Who remembers having chicken pox?

I remember my sister and I having it on Easter Sunday. No Easter egg hunt for us!!!!

<---trying not to freak out... hates it when the kids get sick! 🙁

ohh man good ole chicken pox, man that was some fun stuff. As long as u take care of him, he will be just fine, just don;t let him pop the blisters or else he wil have scars, my bro did that, he has them over his stomach and stuff, nasty!! Well hope he gets better

Yeah I had it.
I am a bit concerned about the vaccine. It is starting to look like it does not provide long term protection. That means getting the virus later in life and that can be a very, very serious thing.

When I was a little guy, in a land far far away and a long time ago, when a child in the neighborhood got the chicken pox all the mothers would gather up their children and take them to play with the diseased little urchin. We, of course, all got the chicken pox. Nobody died. My wife and I did the same with our kids. We are all alive and well. Some have a pock mark here and there, but nothing to worry about.

You and me both.

My oldest daughter, who just missed the vaccine but was exposed to kids who HAD the vaccine, had the WORST case of chicken pox I have seen in my life. Some of her friends (same age... coincidence???) have similar stories. Now my oldest has strange herpes type episodes and she's NOT sexually active.

I don't think the chicken pox vaccine has been such a good idea.

That's the way to go!

I would rather do it that way than the blasted vaccine.

I had chicken pox when I was three... it was pretty severe. I had it for 5 weeks😱

I had scars from it, but they have faded away now.

I had the "pox" back when I was in 5th grade. I've never felt so miserable and helpless in my whole life. Hopefully, the medications, lotions, etc. are better today at relieving the pain and itching.

That reminds me of a South Park episode.

Be glad he got it young. My sister never had it as a child and then got it in college, she was so sick she had to take the semester off.

heh i remember having it. it was only 4 years ago! i was 25 at the time. it was pretty bad. I was running a high fever for so long the doctor wanted to do a spinal tap to make sure nothing major was wrong 🙁

Good part is i gave everone i know (who didnt have it yet) chickenpox! hahaha

Yes I had chicken pox. I grew up in Australia, my parents and I went on a camping trip with my uncle and his family when we were younger...we were at the beach...one cousin was sick though we didn't know why....and it turns out all the kids (cousins, my sister and I) all caught the chicken pox from that one cousin!! I guess it was good we all experienced it at the same time. I remember being very itchy and trying not to scratch but wanting to scratch!!

I had the chicken pox when I was in 5th or 6th grade. I remember being sick for a week or two. I basically lied on the couch in misery THE ENTIRE TIME. I don't remember ever getting up until I started to get over it. For some reason I still remember watching tiny toons everyday while I was sick.

When I was a tike raising hell, I got it during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The URGE to scratch was the worst.

I still haven't had them, and im now 18y/o. I hear that if you get them when you are older, they are much worse..

Well, here's to hoping I never get them.

Yep, I'm coming up on 30 here and I have never had them. The funny thing is I have been arond people with them in the contagious stage many times in my life. My doctor says some people just never get them...I hope so. 🙂

I had chicken pox as a kid, barely remember what age or what it was like.

I'm sure it was VERY unpleasant but it was like 20 or so years ago.

How do you people remember your childhood, I can barely remember last week!

I hope you don't. I got the cpox when I was in college. It was the worst I've ever felt physically. Apparently, the older you are, the worse it feels. Some parents actually expose their little kids to the virus to spare them from having it later.
