Chicken Carnitas

I don't know why, but the new ad's from El Pollo Loco with their Chicken Carnitas confuse the hell out of me. Is it Chicken or is it Carnitas? How can it be Carnitas if its Chicken. Is it me or does the add not make any sense. Last I checked Carnitas is pork in Spanish, or have I just finally lost my mind.

Maybe it's just my TexMex background but, "carnitas" has always meant meat, not pork or any other specific kind.

'round here at my local mexican joint, Carnitas is pork. My Mexican girlfriend says it has always been pork, and her family is 2nd generation Mexican. It is really good, btw.

What's so confusing? Most people have no idea what Carnitas means, let alone what a Carnitas taco should actually taste like. All they're doing is marketing it differently. What is there to explain?

When I 1st saw the commercials I was kinda stoked cause I thought they were selling pork tacos etc. After looking into it I just couldn't help but think the ad's are just fucked up.

It sounds like they're preparing chicken using the carnita spices and orange.


I used to love EPL until they served us burritos con las cucarachas.

Took them to the counter, showed the manager the fucking cockroach in the burrito and she replied, "Would joo like me to make you a different one?"

Got our money back and haven't been back since.

if you want to get anal like that, there is no such thing as 'chicken fajitas' as well. 'fajita' refers to the diaphragm muscle of a steer, aka the skirt steak

I LOVED their burritos and chicken...but their "extras" were more than I wanted.


I know many of the posters here are from cultures where the crawlies aren't considered as big of a deal as they are here...so to each their own.

but we usually think of beef but some places serve chicken steak and i'm not talking about chicken fried steak.
