You know what's scariest about this?

The fact that this kind of shit is far, FAR more common than anyone wants to contemplate.

And what's even scarier than that... is that some women who make these sorts of false claims are actually crazy enough that they, themselves BELIEVE IT HAPPENED.

The human mind, when not properly reinforced with logical thinking and rational training, and not properly introspective enough to hone itself, and certainly when chemically damaged or malformed... is fully capable of producing some false memory of abuse.

And we have a culture now that, for instance, has plenty of therapists and "repressed memory" finders who elicit stories of abuse by kids, for instance, which never happened and then end up ruining their fathers' lives or uncle or whoever.

A good healthy family and good children require a strong father figure, but we've made a society where it's very difficult to be a father and be strong... because we've made it so that fathers walk such a tight rope, displease your wife in some way? She's gone and the kids with her. Oh and half your money.

And if some overly vindictive woman from your past decides to ruin your life... there is a veritable cornucopia of options arrayed before her for doing so.

Or if a teacher on a crusade or a therapist with a confirmation bias takes an interest in your child, false claims of abuse which will destroy you utterly can happen easily.

Am I claiming this kind of stuff happens to a huge percentage of men? No. But it happens to enough to be really disgusting.

Am I myself a victim of any of these things? No. I have no personal axe to grind, I just don't like the direction our society has taken on some key points, and I am a keen observer of injustices like these. I pay attention to the right news sources to be aware of them.

There needs to be consequences for frivolous rape charges, because our society takes them way too seriously.

In reality here, the guy is a victim of our puritanical society. She's probably from a religious family and her parents probably taught her that her "naughty parts" are evil and dirty--no way could a good little christian girl ever look at porn. So she made it up, or her parents helped her make it up, to explain away the natural urges and tendancies of a 17-year-old.

This is why children need to be educated about sex and how it's not evil and how sexuality isn't the devil's creation. Kids need to be taught to be responsible and make responisble decisions about sex, but they shouldn't be outright told that they shouldn't have it until they're 18. Let's face it, sexuality develops in humans well before that.

IMO, the fact that we can depict someone getting their head blown off or eviscerated on broadcast television, but we can't show a boob, is absolutely ridiculous, and is the root issue at work here.

Realize that responsible sexuality is OK, and you won't have a 17-year-old feeling so guilty for looking at porn that she lies about being raped.

What she did was clearly wrong, but I believe her when she says she didn't think anything would happen. She was most likely just trying to get her parents to chill the fuck out and quit being such drama queens over the situation.

Certainly she should face some consequence for what she did, but I think her Sentencing should take into consideration the duress under which she first made the accusation and the fact she came forward to correct the situation.

Parents: Don't be insufferable pricks to your children if you catch them looking at Porn or anything related to Sex. They are merely curious and it is a natural thing for them to be curious. Weren't you?

First off, the callousness needed to say this is astounding. You are a bad person.
I doubt prison is a healthy way to lose weight, nor do we know that he was not healthy already. Skinner != healthier.

You know, I found this part funny/sad. He specifically draws attention to his weight loss and that now he can eat as he wants, most likely gaining it all back. He specifically states it as if that's one of the Injustices he has suffered. 😵

I don't intend to be heartless and cruel, but that thinking is all kinds of fucked up.

You don't know how important food is until you have gone without it, or have had fixed amounts for extended periods of time. In the heirarchy of needs, food is second only to breathing and drinking water.

I agree this way to common. People are convicted of major crimes in this country based on very shaky evidence or complete lack of evidence. The fact that this person could be convicted without any physical evidence is very scary.

Also I got the perception with a lot of jury's is that they have this perception that if a DA is bringing somebody to trial that must mean they are guilty. So the DA doesn't have to present a strong case. In this instance how could you say guilty beyond a reasonable doubt?

This is throughout the criminal justice system for trials. I don't know what the fix is but somehow we need to put the guilty beyond a reasonable doubt back into the system. Not you must be guilty because the DA brought you to trial mentality in these juries.

You're completely missing the point. He was still in caloric debt for a long time. Hence the weight loss. Just bcause you aren't skinny doesn't mean youcan't be hungry as shit.

You probably have no idea what being hungry for a long period of time is like.
 
Once the population dips below a certain base average level of intelligence, education, fair-mindedness, etc... then trial by jury of your peers ceases to be viable for real justice.

At that point, the jury becomes one of the weakest links in the chain of law. If you have a simultaneous process of prosecutors getting more "win at all costs" oriented, gunning for re-election, etc... and another parallel process at the same time as those whereby public defenders are becoming more and more overworked...

Well, at that point you're basically boned. And we have all those afflicting our justice system, and other similarly depressing factors I didn't even mention.

To focus back on the jury thing in particular, the only real way around it is to get much more choosy on juries... but people are so PC now that a lot of the big indicators of someone being a dipshit and being unable to be impartial, are now considered things you aren't supposed to notice or call attention to.

Now, if a case is high profile or in a less overworked court system... some real choosiness and pickiness may enter into the jury selection process. But most of the time, the courts that are more afflicted with the other stuff I mentioned are also the type to rush through jury selection...

These are all INTIMATELY connected to an increase in the population in raw numbers of people, too.

I remember reading about a case in Ventura county. A ex-boyfriend was accused by his former girlfriend of raping her. She even beat herself up and did physical injuries to herself. They where going through a custody dispute over their child. The police arrested him and held him in jail for over 60-days. He lost his job and his reputation. What saved him was that he lived out of town and he had driven into town to pickup the child and during the time she claimed he raped her he had a exact counting based on recipes and video of where he was. So basically it would have been physically impossible for him to have been in two places at once. After this ordeal was over the DA (A Woman) refused to press any charges against the woman for filling a false police report.

Yep and how many cases like that where the guy could produce no proof of his innocence have happened? I wonder.
 
Thats scary. I live in Virginia.
I got little girls all up and down my street. If one of them was being a bitch for whatever reason, I could go to jail just on her word.
