Which restaurant is this?

Taste of Peru! When I would go, I would usually order jsut about everything on the menu. fucking fantastic.

not sure if Platypus and K1052 share my sentiment, as this place is notorious for taking reservations, but not really holding them. 😀

It is small, and gets really crowded Thursday-Saturday nights.

I'm actually supposed to come to Chicago in the next few weeks to look for a place to live. I'm accepting a new job. From what I can gather, Bucktown, Logan Square, Ukranian Village. Are there any other neighborhoods that seem similar to these that I should check out? My interests are good food, good beer and live music.

I like being able to walk for just about everything I need, such as groceries, public transportation entertainment. From what I could gather on my short visits to Chicago, these seemed like great places to live.

Logan Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Ukranian Village, East Village, and Noble Square are all great areas. Bucktown is by far the best. It's close to the hot spot in Wicker Park (6 corners), but also accessible to Logan Square. Bucktown has a great neighborhood feel and almost feels isolated from the city. I wish I could own a place here. Roscoe Village is a nice area too.

Rule of thumb is to stay within two blocks of Milwaukee ave in these areas to live for the most part. I'm pretty comfortable now that I've lived here so I'm not too afraid to go outside of these areas.

Another tip, learn the areas and their borders. Apartment people posting places always try to play off shitty places as nice, like claiming "West Bucktown" when it doesn't exist.

I am in Chicago for the weekend, and I checked this area out. I really liked it. I'm a abit concerned about the proximity to Wrigley Field and game day traffic, given the fact that there are 81 games per year.

Are you trapped in the neighborhood on game days?

I'd advise against that area, I just left it a month ago. Cubs seasons are fucking terrible. If I ever move back it'll be near the red/brownline Fullerton stop.

No, not at all. You are only "trapped" in the neighborhood every day of every year by virtue of the complete lack of parking...unless you somehow manage to obtain your own space. You will not want to ever move your car, because that means ~30min-2hrs circling the neighborhood to find a spot, or even being frustrated to the point of driving well out of the neighborhood to park, and taking a train back to your place.

The only game traffic (both cars and drunken douchebags) that you see are very closely localized to Wrigley, and really only up and down Addison and Clark, where the drinking continues after the game.

lolz. at some point you would think it would be feasible to build parking garages

Very nice. Been there as well and enjoyed every part of my meal and the owner was pleasant. I actually forgot the name of the place lol thanks i'm going to have to go back 🙂

I had to go off of his recommendation though because I had no idea what the hell to order.

Yeah, I believe his name is Cezar--he actually took us back into the kitchen, one of the times we were there, and showed us how he makes Pisco Sours.

Bring a bottle of Pisco with you. eat well, get trashed on Pisco sours. good times. Make sure to bring Peruvian pisco. You will get shit if you bring a bottle of the Chilean stuff, heh.

I always like the lomo saltado, the ceviche is great, of course the paella, and pretty much all of the soups--there is something with cilantro, or maybe not. It was a green broth, but it was fantastic.

I love that area....but too many Chads and Trixies milling about. D:

much better bars in that area, though, than what you find on Clark near Wrigley.
