They got the right to walk out, and the employer has the right to bring in replacement workers. I'm sure their are some smart people up there that are currently out of work that wouldn't mind getting a paycheck.

Strike is bad, but you gotta admit, they're underpaid. I heard private school teachers get paid less.

I have a feeling that the kids are jumping for joy for schools closing.... until they send in the scabs....

Illinios has one of the highest pay scale I've seen for teachers. I don't know about the city school districts though.

city schools don't pay very well from what I understand...but then again City schools also suck..sooo.....

teachers ARE grossly underpaid, its sad really, especially in this state. i think we're 47 or 48 in teacher pay.
my friends mom taught @ the HS i graduated from for 20 years, AP spanish, she moved to texas and makes almost double what she made here.
i think first year teachers make even less than i do, and believe me....thats sad.

The garbage strike now this.

FYI I missed a week a school because of striking teachers. Well it was only 4 days because sports is more important than education to the school's administrators. They settled with the union thursday at midnight so class could be held on friday so the football team wouldn't have to forfeit the saturday game.
