Exactly, if you don't keep your dog muzzled and completely immobilized like pulp fiction gimp suit style you're just inviting anyone to come in and shoot it.

Again, hard to make much of a judgement on this one. A few vague sentences. Nothing speaking to the crime they were chasing a suspect for. No mention of the suspect. No mention of how many police or if an officer was being bitten. Yet, we have a full page of people raging over police officers. I'm not taking a side, but damn guys, why do you get upset so fast over such little information?

But it's only in plain view once he's in/on your property searching for something/someone else.

Oh well, this doesn't pertain to me personally, I just like to try and keep up with law that involves police so they can't pull a fast one on me if I have to interact with them.

I think as long as they legally entered your property, anything in plain view is fair game. Good reason to never let a cop in your house, even if you are just providing a statement.

Personally, if a cop breaks into someone's yard chasing someone completely unrelated to the crime, I don't care if the dog was biting them. That is a dog's job and maybe the cops should assess the situation before busting down someone's gate.

That being said. Cops have tasers, why not use that? Cops also carry pepper spray, which is effective on bears, so I assume it would work on a domesticated dog as well. It just shows that the first thing many cops think about is pulling the trigger. Or better yet, why didn't they just GTFO of the yard?

Edit: To clarify, if the police officer's life is actually in danger, fine. But "being charged" or even having your leg beaten, doesn't raise it to that level for me when you are in a completely innocent person's yard. Use your night stick, your pepper spray, or your taser.
