Chicago outraged by 911 super coverage of a small high rise fire

I'm assuming you're talking about the "lame" fire that took place in that high rise building in chicago? A fire that injures 34 people is not a "lame" fire. Grow up

Look at it this way: your friend was in the fire and all the local channels aren't covering it because football is on. Would you cry since you aren't getting info on the fire?

Agreed.

People get injured everyday in car accidents and they don't cut away. They just kept repeating the same stuff over and over agian. Then they wouldn't even show live video but taped video from early.

It was 4 hours of nothing, it could have waited til 10:00 PM news or just break in with updates if there was any *new* information.

They were covering it like it was 911 attack and it wasn't, you couldn't even see anything just dark with a little fire and smoke.

Also why does every channel have to cover it ?

Welcome to sensationalized news. All stations feel they have to block out any shows that are on TV so they can cut in with any late-breakig news. If one station decides not to cover the isseu, they run the risk of losing viewers.

Thank goodness for cable stations. I can no longer stand my local programming.

Jebus, aren't we depraved today?

Shut up, just because the lame news department covers a fire like it's the end of world senario and blocks all programming on all the local channels doesn't mean I'm insenstive.

What difference would it have made if he had known about it? Unless he's a fireman there isn't anything he could do. Might as well enjoy the game!

This kind of logic cracks me up. I got a call from our corporate office one day asking for my district manager and I responded that I didn't know where he was. The voice on the other end seemed shocked by that and asked me what I would do if my office was on fire. I told her calmly that I would call the fire department. She hung up. That was some funny sh!t!!! 😀

Don't blame the TV station, blame their viewers. TV stations are in it for the profit. Viewers = profit. They give the viewers what they want.

Not as bad as the 1995(?) eastern conference finals between the Knicks and Pacers. 2nd half, close game, all of a sudden they cut to the white bronco going down the freeway with NOTHING HAPPENING for two hours.

An hour into the coverage? "Oh, by the way, folks, the Knicks won the game." Ended up being one of the greatest Knick games of my lifetime, and I couldn't see it because EVERY CHANNEL had to cover the white bronco doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Not everyone wants to watch nothing happen in the news for hours on end. The stations should come up with an agreement that only one station cover it nonstop at any given time, and the others will only cut in when something newsworthy happens.

Ever hear of a radio? Sure not being able to watch it sucks but listening to the game is the next best thing/

No radio stations were carry the game.

Where do you live? I know that to be 95% a lie.
