So, yeah! It's this weekend, and it's my first race, and it's pretty exciting. I did a couple smaller races over the summer, but really just started running this spring (March or April).

I'm hoping for sub-8 minute miles, but have no clue, really, what to expect.

I hear it's going to be cold and rainy though... :(

Anyone else here running??

I'd be there, but I have to be at a wedding on Saturday that I need to be at and prepare for.

be sure to pre-load the night before with at least the following:

2 chicago-style hot dogs with everything,
2 italian beefs, and
2 slices of chicago-style deep dish pepperoni pizza (lou malnati's is the bomb).

This will no doubt help your quest for 8 minute miles.

Awesome!!! I have a friend who loved running the Chicago marathon and did so many times. He liked it even better than the New York one and the Boston one he qualified for when get got older. I ran the New York one and it is an experience I would never forget. Good luck man! I hope you prepared well! Now get to bed. :)

Good luck! My sister and mother have both run. I'm considering training for next year's marathon.

26 miles * 8 minute miles = 3 hours 28 minutes. 8:00 + 3:28 = 11:28

actually it was the op that was doing the 8 min pace, I'm aiming for a more comfortable 10 min pace.

In case anyone was interested, it was freakin cold. I didn't make the time I wanted by quite a wide margin. I don't have my official time yet, but by my estimates it in the neighborhod of 5:45 :(

Don't worry about it, now you have the experience to do better the next time. :)

Uh, no. Now isn't the time to try new things, stick with what you know works well for you.

Good luck with the run. :)

Sweetness! You ran it, eh?

Stiff?

I'm hobbling around like a bowlegged cowboy who just rode his overfed mule 50 miles through a rocky canyon.... or something like that. :p

I didn't quite hit my 8 minute miles, but close - 8:03min/mile for a total time of about 3:32.

Off to bed again! I'll probably try to jump out of bed in the morning, my legs won't respond, and I'll crash down on my roomie (who also ran it) and then lie on the floor for a couple more hours...

Good work midnightrat! By the way, you can check the website and put in your name and it tells you your times and pace and everything.

Ya, I saw the pic - he looked so happy right before he crossed. It's funny; I had just crossed the 16 mile mark at that time...

Congrats chitown runners! Great times!

and confused, sub-7 miles for a half is spectacular. Easily above-average.
