This is the local level where I?m much more comfortable with idiots like this having the authority to impose idiotic things like this. It is far less damming to the entire nation, and much more easily applicable and reversible than if this were imposed at the federal level.

This can be a proper experiment in both abuse of power and how the locals react to it. It is much easier to change a city council than it is to change Congress.

Well gee, why didn't they think of this in the 80's? The war on drugs could have been over by now. :disgust: <chant>No more mini baggies!</chant>

You can just see the power these people have. Not only are they going after ziplock but in the article they state it is an important tool for going after grocery stores!

That war on drugs is comedy gold if it wasnt so real.

Edit: While reading what the peoples republic of chicago want to do please listen to this.

FAA: You must use small bags for taking liquids on a plane!
Chicago: You can't have small bags!
O'Hare: ????

Profit!

(yes I realize they aren't talking about the same bags. I still found it amusing.)

Gimme your paypal, quick. I need 30 baggies. I'll pay $85/ounce.

Actually, I thought of a better approach than banning them. Simply give them a $30 deposit and to get the money back you just return the bag to a place that has a drug-sniffing dog, then the non-criminals can use their little bags.

This thread inspires a strange mental image of a mother from the suburbs driving her little Zip-Loc baggy-laden station wagon to the ghetto to peddle said baggies to drug dealers.

I think this measure would be more just if the baggie manufacturers were simply held liable for the acts committed by those using their product for evil purposes.

Ban children! Children can't be destroyed by drugs if they don't exist!

"Psst, what are ya in for?"

"Eh? Oh, I got busted with a concealed baggie and attempted ziplocking."

Another way to get you for having drug paraphernalia too, I guess.

What are you in for?

Ziploc possession, man.

Those little baggies with the screws in them are going to get some computer nerds busted.

Ahh lets cut to the point.

Ban breathing, you cant breath, you cant live, and thus cant do drugs.

Problems that are solved by your govt.
