Who else out there thinks that being on probation for a gun crime is somehow wrong. When you commit a gun crime you should get the death penalty.

Violent crimes need big punishment, not "gun crimes". Depends on what he got busted for.

Actually tons of people do. No one listens to them.

I don't think that is really anyone's fault. We have set up a government that has power over property matters and business matters and mortal matters but it doesn't have power over cultural and relationship matters. We simply have never created a body that is responsible for and has power over how people live their lives and that's what it would take to create and enforce culture to combat cultural decay. We just have random, incoherent culture creation. This provides freedom but naturally it has no ability to prevent cultural decay.

I figured she was shot because of something gang related. Gangbangers are stupid and they will shoot anyone they THINK is the person they're looking for.

How the hell do you sneak up on somebody to kill them and you still couldn't verify your target? I am sure Hadiya didn't look like a guy to them, so there was probably another male present under the shelter in the park that they thought was the kid who shot the one idiot.

So senseless and stupid.

If jurors aren't acknowledging a person's gang affiliation from something so obvious as a gang tattoo then those people are the problem, not the law.

I give you that SOME of those tattoos may seem ambiguous to someone who isn't enducated on gangs, but there are plenty of examples there that are PAINFULLY OBVIOUS they are gang members...

Plenty of gang members take extreme pride in their gang and have no problems openly expressing their affiliation (see photos from link above), even to law enforcement.

The violence in Chicago has very little to do with the NRA or any legal gun owners. Gangs are stealing their guns from people, gun laws have no effect on them having one or carrying one. Antagonizing the NRA will not stop or even remotely hinder criminal gangs from acquiring firearms.

The law has worked just fine, the link I provided lists 36 convictions in the first year, I cant find any info on how many since then.

The problem is Judges are NOT enforcing the laws these criminals are found to be guilty of.

A tattoo along with other evidence might matter. Its crazy to think someone should get 3 years in jail because they have a tattoo, without any other evidence.

Besides that, if breaking a weapons possession law gets gang members 3 years in jail, it ought to get EVERYONE 3 years in jail.

This kind of law isn't based on justice. Its politicians seeking favor from frightened constituents. "Look at us, we're tuff on the scary gang people".

Its the same crap that leads to different penalites for crack than for coke.
