rock solid in every way... my dad has 65k miles (90% city stop and go driving) on his 99 tahoe, and NOTHIN has gone wrong with it, and i am not exaggerating, the only time it has been in the shop is for oil changes and scheduled maintenance... and, if you decide to get one (specifically the 5300), and dont have experience with big engine RWD vehicles, go easy on the gas... those engines are extremely powerful, and will powerslide around any turn you want, DRY... a lot of people think since its big, you cant get the back end around, but let me tell you, its possible, so BE CAREFUL!

few other things... the interior is about average... its all plastic on the dash, so nothin special there, but the seats are awesome... sit in those leather lumbar babies with the heat jacked up in the winter and you will fall in love...

Ditto what Beast said. I have a 99 Tahoe I bought new in March of 98, no problems. Bought my wife a used 99 Tahoe, no problems.
And I tow a trailer with my race truck that weighs over 5000lbs with mine.

my dads got a 2000 tahoe with i around 45k miles on it, nothing has ever gone wrong with it, before he bought that he had a 96 tahoe that was over 90k miles and had nothing wrong with it ever. I have a 95 tahoe that has 88k miles on it and since i bought it nothing has gone wrong with it and it runs awesome.

Tahoes are extremely nice and are extremely reliable...

My dad's had them since they came out and uses them like they do in the commercials :p

He has a 01 with 70k on it now and hasn't had any problem other than burned out fog lights (which tend to always go out on the Chevy trucks). $3 for a replacement bulb and takes about 5 minutes to replace. The thing is freakin huge inside. The steering is a little loose for my liking. Doesn't take any effort to turn the wheel, but I guess I got used to it. I think it's a good bang for the buck if you don't get all the fancy stuff. He has grease monkeys in there all the time and hauls trailers often so leather and stuff like that would be a waste. The basic interior is ok (like already said, mostly plastic), but the chairs are comfortable and the front and rear AC kick ass (really nice for here in TX). His is the LS with 4WD and V8 and ran about $27k when it got it.

my uncle had one and turned it in early on his lease. * I * loved the truck...i drove it around in Arizona when he was living there. *HE* turned it in b/c he knew he'd be driving across country a few times and the gas mileage sucks on them. Otherwise, they are big, bad chevy trucks.
