WHY CRUZE NO SELL BETTER??

brand perception would be my #1 guess.

I'm surprised it out sold the new focus, which seems to be a VERY nice little car.

It's because it's an import and America hates imports and those god damn <ethnic slur> from <country>. The Chevy Cruze is 45% domestic content 😉

That Honda Civic Americans love is up around 70-80% domestic content.

Brand loyalty means a lot, less than it used to but many people still buy their 'brand'
regardless of the car

That was the old Focus, not the new one.

right the new one didnt hit floors really till march, and its still not very available. good call.

you realy think most consumers have any idea about that? I know SOME do, but I would venture to guess most don't. I have noticed alot of people seem to be boneheads, "i had a shitty chevy once, all cehvys are shit and Ill never get one, same with those XX computer brand and YY mower"

Uhhh how does this warrant a recall? It happened once.... So now every assembly line mistake is going to result in a recall?

I am guessing a new steering wheel was just coming onboard and/or new tool that allowed some idiot to not check the numbers and install one.

So they went back and the window it could have happened was the 2000 or so car timeframe. So they recall those cars as a just in case some other idiot did this and will not admit it.

Um... yes?
My Honda Civic had weird recalls for things that weren't even problems. One of them was something about reprogramming something. They did it next time I took the car in for a free oil change. I couldn't tell the difference, so I don't know what they actually did.

edit
Most recalls do not make the news.

It sounded like the recall was pretty much just telling everyone that had a car that could have been affected to come in so they could look it over and make sure the problem isn't more wide spread. While it's completely possible this was a freak occurrence they're being responsible and checking anything that could be affected.
