Looks like it will be a great competitor for the BRZ/FR-S and it looks much better. I guess it will be the closest you can get to a Sylvia, including the notchback styling. Since it's on the Cadillac ATS platform it might end up being heavy for its size though.

Interesting. I agree with the article in the link though about Chevy's insistence with the damn bar through the grill. It's better then the chrome one they put through everything a few years back, but ffs give it up already. The one that really pissed me off, and I wasn't a big fan of the vehicle to begin with was this...

And what's with people always taking pictures of cars at such low angles. Do they have kids and midgets for photographers, or is that their target audiences?

relative positioning and angles of the headlamps and swoopy hood kinda makes it look like a shrunk down infiniti FX from the front angle in the OP

wheels look ridiculously huge on there.

The 2005 Malibu is, IMO, one of the ugliest cars ever made for this very reason:

It'll probably wind up being pigfat heavy compared to the FRS/BRZ. Remember when GM tried to make a "lightweight" roadster? We ended up with the 3000 lb Solstice/Sky.

If it really gets 40mpg on the highway I'll take the 1.4L. Maybe it can be chipped for more than 150hp.

I'm not sure why carmakers try to market cars to high school and college kids though. Most of them can't afford new cars... It sounds like they may listen to the Los Angeles kids who don't even realize a Corvette is a Chevrolet, and build the swoopy one that looks like a mid-engined supercar but is just another generic FWD coupe.

Looks chunky, like it's trying really hard to flex its muscles and look like a Camaro. Wheels are WAY too big and shiny, but that's standard for non-bargain-basement American cars these days.

I predict this will be more like a CR-Z than a BRZ in performance. At least 25% heavier than the BRZ and 25% less power.

PS how did I not hear about this earlier? Also the name is Chevy 130R.

Keep in mind though it's a concept that doesn't even have an interior. It could end up with the 2.0 and not the 1.4

if it had the 2.0 turbo then i would consider it a huge contender to the BRZ.

beating the japanese to the rumor of a decently powerful, small, 2+2 would be a great win for GM.
 
Oh, and this car isn't called the "Chevy Code." It's the "Code 130R." It looks like GM showcased two youth-focused concept cars alongside each other to try to gauge public opinion. There was this one, the 130R, and a FWD coupe called the 140S.

And yeah, since they're both concept cars it's hard to judge what they'll actually be like. We have no idea what engines they'll offer. I really do hope that they go with the 130R and give it a decent engine, not a fuel sipper. Otherwise it will die a horrible death.

Doesn't it make sense that this is the next generation Camaro platform? The zeta platform has been around since 2006, so the platform in general is getting old.
 
It is the next gen Camaro platform, but the Camaro will be bigger. But what's weird is this concept has the same wheelbase as the Cadillac ATS. Will the Camaro just be wider and have more rear overhang?
