Chevrolet Z06 - Fifth Gear (Best Fast) Car Of The Year

Great car, very fast, great price, its jsut that tis not as liveable and capable as a daily driver as a 911 Turbo. The 911 is slower but it is also cushier and more refined so it can handle te daily freeway grind as well as the track. For a weekend car, the Z06 cant be beat but for day to day, the lack of sound deadener and the blast of heat from the tranny tunnel from the lack of thermal insulation may be a bit too mcuh, espicalyl if you like to drive "spirited".

For the 60-85k price range, id take the Z06 no doubt though.

well i think of it this way, nothing beats the bang for the buck prowess of a z06 but damn it's a turbo 911, how many turbo 911's do you see on the road let alone corvettes in general

Every time I think I start to like american cars (Stang, GTO, z06)... I get in one and look at the interior. blech. If I'm going to buy a car I'd better love the interior, where I'll be spending 95% of my time.

I'll wait for the Stingray or Z07, whatever it will be called. *Prays that is has the functional hood scoop, split back windshield, and leather wrapped interior).

If chevy does that is the perfect car, period.

Any experienced driver would take advantage of the vette's ability to do that to get faster lap times. The z06 is not exactly a daily driver.

You're an idiot. Look at the line that was taken.

Do you not see how the handling and controled oversteer allows the car to dominate the corner? Sure you don't want to slide around a corner, it was done for effect just like they break the back end out on all their videos.

Even the announcer was expounding on how well it handled/cornered.

-edit- look at the front end, the wheels, the direction. there wasn't a whole lot of sliding going on there. Also look at the lap times.

I was speaking only in the context of a daily driver since most drivers aren't taking their cars on the track. But call me names if that makes you feel good about yourself.

Oh and I'd rather have under steer than over steer.

What kind of person buys a z06 and expects it to be as cushy as a 4 door sedan?

Any well handling car has a slight oversteer, very slight.

What you post is public domain and needs to be corrected. That's all.

😕 A 911 does not have 4 doors. It just has better accomodations and a suspension with settings to let it be forgiving or agressive. Of course it si 2x the price though...

Good news is that you can easily get one new for MSRP now. Bad news is that Chevy raised the MSRP by 5k for the '07. 🙁
I would love to get a used 06 Z06 but current high interest rate kills the dream for me.

I was thinking the same thing.

I love Top Gear (and have never been a huge fan of a lot of domestic cars myself) but he definitely doesn't cut them (or even many Japanese/Korean cars) an ounce of slack.

How long have you owned a Z06, or are you making this stuff up about livability ?
