GM won't put forged internals in a Camaro because they are scared of losing Corvette sales and they want you to spend $100k if you want the good stuff 😡

is this why we didn't see an RS focus in the states? a little focus outperforming their GT mustang?

and why we don't see the ecoboost V6 in a mustang?

I don't know if I buy all that type of talk, but it does give you something to think about. It is cool when manufactures build these motors right. the ford GT can make 1000 hp on stock block <- that is cool

Because the Focus costs a shit ton and wouldn't sell state-side, we're talking $40k+ easily.

I doubt we'll have to wait much longer for an ecoboost pony really.

But that would hurt the sales of Carroll's crap.

Carroll Shelby can suck John Coletti's ****.

Sorry I have no respect for a has been car guy who just sells his name now and takes pictures of himself next to cars these days.

SVT built the GT500 and they decided to call it a Shelby GT500 at the last minute instead of a SVT Cobra, purely a publicity and marketing move. *puke*

That's why I called it crap.

Holy freakin ninja edit. That SVT stuff wasn't there when I hit quote 😛

Eh? The Focus RS (yes, not the lowly ST) is a SLUG compared to the Mustang GT. FWD and 300hp do not make a competitor to a 412HP V8 monster that trades blows with the V8 M3. They didn't bring it here because nobody would buy it at the prices it would command. Even the Focus ST will be a low-numbers car.

Ecoboost V6 sort of has no place next to the V8 that's already out, if it were released first there would kind of be no reason for the V8. The 300+hp V6 already fills in the entry-level, the 412hp 5.0 fills in the regular performance model, and all of the crazy models are well established by Roush, Shelby, etc.

Come to think of it, a Mustang V6 with manual tranny would probably equal or beat the Focus RS, and it's only $22k starting. Focus ST is going to be more expensive than that.

Proof :

Google for the showdown between M3 and Mustang Gt, they are within inches of each other on real tracks.

2010 Focus RS = 0-60 in 5.9 😛

I agree with everything you said except the ecoboost in the 'Stang. The MKR concept had the Ford "TwinForce" branded ecoboost good for 415hp and 400lb/ft which would make for an interesting special edition Mustang.

47k is a damn good bargain, if only it could lose some weight and be a little bit smaller. I don't like driving a barge with a belt line at my ears.

Battery not included. Some assembly required...

I kind of wish cars would get lighter instead of more powerful.

There has been a turbo Mustang before. The Mustang SVO (SVO became SVT) back in the 80's were 4 cylinder turbo Mustangs with the same BHP as the V8 Mustang GT. They were both on the market at the same time. IIRC the SVO had some success as a weekend track car.

Hmmm, makes me want to go out and buy the Ford Racing supercharger (624hp). I'm just not sure the stock 5.0's rods can handle it. 🙁

if there were a lincoln mustang (cougar?) with different body panels and interior, EB should be the power option. have to get rid of the filter feeder whale grille though.

even the base model could be an EB I4 if ford is making 280ish power from it. would be interesting.

They probably could as that's crank HP, but you're pushing the limit of that motor on anything past 7 PSI. It's a great NA motor, but not so much blown as the potential is not there.

FWD, supposedly its system to minimize torque steer is pretty awesome.

Facepalm. When will car makers learn that Fwd is a horrible horrible thing with a decent amount of power? Are Americans that scared of driving Rwd? Its called snow tires.

you can thank the ever increasing crash, rooftop, and other safety regulations for making cars porkier, among other things.

Yeah it's 9psi. So the question is, do I want to replace the rods and pistons with forged internals. And while they are in there, might as well replace the crank, with a forged crank. I really don't have a problem with the cost of the parts, it's just the labor involved, which I'm going to assume will be pretty costly. They have to pull the whole engine out and I need to have a place I can trust to put it all back together correctly. Not to mention this will void the warranty on the engine. 🙁

So sexy. too bad i can't see outta the damn things. With that much power i hope it comes with P zero's or it'll never hook. lol

people here can't handle road conditions other than normal without driving like pussies. Some rwd drivers have issues with the ass of their car flying all over the place on wet roads.
