Chest shaving?

Fritzo

Lifer
I was at the gym when I overheard a conversation between a personal trainer and his student. The trainer suggested the guy shave his chest so he can see his muscle definition better. This would allow him to focus on one side or the other if he was getting "lop-sided".

Now...is chest hair shaving acceptable? If you had a hairy bush chest (like I do) and one day shaved it, would you start getting the "ghey" remarks from your friends/family, or is this something that everyone working out does?

Nobody really gives a damn, really. If your chest isn't worth seeing, I'd keep the hair their to hide it though.

Yeah, my friend shaves his chest. I have a hairier chest than him. Oh well, some guys will never be comfortable with themselves.

I don't really want to do this, I just thought it was an odd thing to do. So, you don't think that going from hairy (like this guy was) to bald would make people to a doubletake at the pool?

I've thought about recently. Mainly because my chest hair is creeping up my neck more and more now. Sucks when you keep the top button unbuttoned. Creates a total pornstar look.

Even T-shirts underneath don't keep the man-forest in check. I might have to nair that crap.

IMHO, chest shaving is appropriate depending on what you are doing it for. For swimming, muscle building as described above, sounds fine. Cause your GF likes a hairless chest, sure(make her shave your chest). Cause you are trying to impress someone, no.

What difference does it make. If you are comfortable with your sexuality, who cares what other people think. I have like 6 hairs on my chest and I'd shave them off if they bothered me. And if people thought that I was a homosexual so what? I don't care.

Of course everyone will notice, they just won't know exactly what is different about you. I tend to be very hairy and a weight lifter. And yes it's true, you can't see the progress of your workouts if you can't see the muscles. I do not shave however, I just trim it down to a #1 so to speak with hair clippers. I was amazed when I first did it to see how ripped I had gotten from all the running and weight lifting that I do but did not see due to the hair. Everyone will get over it believe me, and you'll notice that most women like it better too. Now if you're fat, keep the hair.

Heheh...I'm more like Sean Connery than Roger Moore

Well if you're bald, fat and 75 then who the hell cares what you do with your chest!

Uh...erk....make that a 1960's Sean Connery!

I have corn-rows!

I've shaved my chest a few times and within 2 days, it starts itching like crazy. So, I just use my trimmer to keep it short and not so forest-like.

If you are hairy like a Monkey I can understand trimming it and if you work out I also can understand trimming it. But shaving it seems a little extreme. What happens if you don't shave it on a regualr basis, do you get chest stubble?
