For a while now I have noticed I get random chest pain. It happens multiple times throughout the day, sometimes worse than others. It happens every day like this.

When I jog 2 miles in the morning, by the end it hurts pretty bad, and the pain is more noticeable throughout the days that I jog in the morning.

I have crappy-school health insurance, so I'd rather not go to the Hospital, not sure what it would cost me. Plus about 10% of people who go to the emergency room complaining that they think they have a heart attack, have actually had one.

I know this isnt a heart attack per se, because i would imagine it would hurt a lot more, but the constant pain is an annoyance and it worries my wife.

So if anyone knows anything about this, let me know :)

Go to the doctor. ATOT is a great resource on occasion, but we can't replace a real live doctor who isn't talking out of his ass. 'Nuff said.

You need to see a doctor. You could be a coronary bypass candidate.

Money <<<<<<<< Your life

Why are you asking AT? PM Heartsurgeon or somebody.

yeah, go see a doctor.

What side of the chest is it on? Is it a throbbing pain that occurs at the same rate of your pulse? Is it a sharp pain? Can you localize the pain? Does it do it on breath in or breath out? Do you have trouble breathing while having the pain?

Angina Pectoris comes to mind whenever I hear someone talk of chest pains.

since money is a big concern, see if the baggage screeners at your local airport will let you go thru the luggage xray machine and ask them what they see.

And you bet those 10% are very glad that they went to the hospital.

My left side.

No throbbing.

Not usually sharp, but occassionaly.

CEnter of my chest.

Not usually when breathing, but on exceptions it does, and that is when it is sharp.

No trouble breathing.

Please get yourself to a doctor. I have had chest pain, shortness of breath, jaw pain for well over 3 years. Went to two docs, one in 99 and another in 02. Both said I was ok and my cholesterol was a lil high at 190.

In 03, i decided to get in shape...went from 165lbs to 140lbs and dropped my cholesterol to 148. My diet went from $hit to well balanced one.

Even after all that, four weeks ago I had a heart attack at the age of 19. Part of my lower heart is damaged and i have the stamina of a sumo wrestler now. Its called coronary artery spasm and my idiot doctors failed to treat me right.

Get yourself to a physician right away AND a cardiologist, i would have been ok if i was refered to a cardiologist...

Sounds to me more like heartburn AKA Acid Reflux. The new catchall when Drs hear chest pains with no other symptoms to back up heart trouble but if so a simple pill everyday wil heal/fix.

Still, go get checked out!!!!

Ok, I have no family doctor. Who should I go to with this? Will a normal doctor be able to diagnose and give me tests? Im guessing this would be a required first by my insurance company anyway.

I am going through almost the same thing, I am 24. I saw a cardiologist had an echo and an ecg(ekg) done. See a cardiologist right away you will only do more damage by not going and finding out what the problem is.

Phone your insurance company and ask how they want you to handle getting a physical. They can tell you who is on the list of preferred medical providers (give you the best treatment for the least money.)

The cardiologist looked at me and saw that I was 24 and didn't take me seriously until he took my pulse and it was racing. He diagnosed me inappropiate sinus tachyradia and gave me a beta blocker to slow the heart rate down. It slowed my heart rate, but the pain is still there. My heart rate went from 90+ to ~60. My heart rate before the pain was always 60-70bpm.

The echocardiogram showed mild regurgitation of the tricuspid valve, but it was so mild it was within the normal range. Structurally the heart is ok, supposedly no indication of a heart attack because he didn't comment on it and I can't remember if I asked.

I am going back to the primary care physician tomorrow to look into it more. I was in great shape before this, worked out 5 times a week 30 minutes a day, ate well, then one day had pain in my chest, dizzy, tired.

Go see a doctor ASAP. Don't put it off another hour or another day.

I worked at a hospital in the summer in this small city and a local guy whom I had known of had chest pain for a while and -meant- to see a doctor. He was going to see one in a few days. Went and played ball hockey and wound up dead in front of me when he came in suffering from a heart attack.

The last thing you want to do on chest pain is stress your heart and exercise was stupid on your part if you've experienced this for awhile.

Don't mean to insult you but its true :p

go see someone fast.
take a couple Aspirin right now too...Aspirin (REAL Bayer Aspirin not a knockoff) have been known to stop heart attacks from being deadly....they are miracle pills (honest)

Generic aspirin and Bayer Aspirin have the exact same active ingredient.

Could be a heart murmur (hole in ur heart). This causes part of the heart to "bleed" and not enough blood is pumped through. You should stop running until you check it out.

You can do as others suggested or give me all of your pertinent info so I can take out a life insurance policy on you.

In all reality you are probably scared at what they might find. It might be bad but chances are it won't be all that bad.

Im more worried about mis-diagnosis , like everyone above me has mentioned who has direct experience with this.
