anybody have chess tips? i really suck at it... but i want to get better.... any simple things i can do?

Chess is too intricate to just give a tip.
You may be too agressive
You may be too passive
You may have a crappy opening, middle or endgame.
So on and so on.

chess doesn't strike me as that intricate.... i mean they can make a computer that beats a human...

alright i see that you all are holding out on me... fine... if that's the way you want it....

hmmm i have no playing style that i am aware of.... i just try to get the other guy's king in checkmate... *shrug*

look at the entire board

if you are starting out you may want to play black for a while, allows you to play the defensive role until you can catch your opponent in a mistake.

Always look for your oponents next best move, watch all of their pieces, see where they are trying to go/where they can get you in a bind and block the move.

Try to look several moves ahead, dont attack/pressure a peice for no real reason, develop a strategy that will be to your advantage, also watch what your opponents best moves are in the situations that develop,

Or just play (somewhat) stronger players as in a club-type situation.

There are THOUSANDS of books on chess. Hundreds of instruction books. You need to learn control of the center and other basic STRATEGY. etc. etc.
