soon in hands of users, cherryville ssd's to be replaced by kingcrest ssd's 2nd qtr 2012 --- ask yourselves "why"?

intel has invested significant resources in 710/720 high endurance nand + in-house controller -intel is & will be major player enterprise market

consumer/prosumer market is also important, but requires firm control of cost(s) of manufacturing to ensure adequate budgetary line item: component testing & validating resulting in high product reliability --- ie: actually more difficult to achieve, than with enterprise, because server farm / corporate campus willing to pay more per gb

there is presently far too much of "it looks good on paper, so manufacture it & sell it" going on with ssd's - elaborate installation techniques are not the solution...

cherryville is interim product range & allows time for "other" controller options

kingcrest will prove interesting for all parties

intel benefits from continuing viability of amd to avoid antitrust reviews --- intel only looks on sf as short term expediant measure, but will not help sf build enterprise market share...
