Cherry MX Red Brown Blue 20% off at Newegg

Im unable to go to the link on my ipod. What does this exactly mean, cause i would like to get a new keyboard. 😀

it still annoys me that no US or euro manufacturer for mechanical keyswitch keyboards makes a mini keyboard without a numpad or separated arrow pad/other keys. the only way i could get what i wanted was off ebay, direct from china.

enjoying my new noppoo choc mini (brown)

This product cannot be shipped to NY.

Agreed. And no explanation as to whether it's Newegg, the carrier, or Rosewill. Just blames everyone:

"This product cannot be shipped to IL, NC and NY.
Due to state or local laws and manufacturer or shipping carrier restrictions, we are unable to deliver certain products to all geographical locations.

Additional fees may apply for shipments to APO/FPO, AK, HI and PR."

you just don't know where to look yet 😛

Although for the most part you are right. Outside of Cooler Master there really aren't any big name manufacturers (not that Cooler Master is that big of a name as far as keyboards go) that are producing compact boards (at least not yet) and are widely available in the US (can't say I know or care about EU).

cherry ultraslim that doesn't use full-height keys, (scissor switch keyboard probably) or Deck mini that doesn't do tactile keys. :/

joy, minimum $300 for a keyboard...

and i LIKE my f-keys.

I don't know about these keyboards... I use MS natural keyboard and like it, and have a G19 I haven't used yet. Are these much better than those for use and gaming?

For typing, these are 200% better. Gaming is another story. Can't tell for sure if they are better or worse or if they impacted much in FPS games that I play.

Anyway breakdown for those that don't want to read reviews:
Blue - perfect for typing. You can hear and feel them when press happens.
Red - for gaming. You can't hear or feel when press happens, and does not need much force
Brown- in between. You can feel when press happens, but no tactile feedback.
Noise that you can hear from last two is when key reaches bottom, at that point press already happened.

Isn't 'feel when press happens' 'tactile feedback'? This is one of those things ahrd to be sure is worth $80 without trying.

well i can tell you typing on this keyboard is dramatically different than typing on my mush keyboard from before. but you're right, ymmv.

and mine is mx brown. it is tactile feedback, though i imagine not as much as the blues.

actually, the point of activation is *just* below the tactile point on the browns. not an issue to me, but some people complain about it.

and even with browns, this keyboard makes significantly more noise than my previous one. so....take that for what it's worth. blues would be LOUD.

I love my browns. Using an xArmor backlit with browns at home, and a DAS Pro S at work. But I agree with Craig that it's hard to know if you will like mechanical switches, and specifically which flavor is best for you, until you've tried them. If you don't mind dealing with Amazon returns and you're willing to take a shot on a relatively expensive piece of hardware (for a keyboard anyway -- it's cheap compared to many other mechanical keyboards), I HIGHLY recommend my DAS. Tactile and slightly clicky (but nothing like blues), I don't think I'll ever work without it again.
