In some ways, liberals are worse than conservatives on racial issues. We already know conservatives have their heads in the sand. If you're aware then what's the hold up?


Black males who are viewed as having “challenging” behaviors are referred more often for special education programs serving children with emotional disabilities. Interestingly, according to Losen and Orfi eld (2002), Black male students are more apt to receive special education services under the mental retardation category as their families’ income levels rise. In addition, the U.S. Department of Education (2006) reports that Black students are:
• labeled emotionally disturbed at almost twice the rate of their White peers;
• over twice as likely to receive special education services for serious emotional disturbance as other CLD groups;
• three times as likely to receive services for mental retardation as White students.


According to an analysis from the Education Department's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, about half the school districts in the entire country – more than 8,000 – are expected to get dinged for "significant disproportionatilty." That includes about 20 percent of the school districts in Connecticut, Maryland and Rhode Island, as well as about 15 percent of the districts in California, Illinois, New York and Texas.

I love how liberals acknowledge things like this but then don't realize how inefficient and damaging some of their policies are. A lot of the so-called black sympathizers aren't really that progressive. They go with establishment Democrats (shee-it, a lot of them were okay with Dubya) because they'll get taxed less but then we simply have policies that trap them in poverty in a couple of ways.

There's a large IQ gap that not even liberals dispute (only contentious on whether it's environmental or genetic). IQ is also correlated with communication, which is probably why the studies Amused brought up on employment suggested that employers disliked hiring blacks the most in customer service. Remember Jeantel in Zimmerman case? Even the black people were incredibly embarrassed.

The above is truth, it is painful, but it is truth. No one here with any sense of dignity or honesty can refute any statement. There is categorical proof showing every single one of those events happening.
So until we openly own up to these heinous acts, we won't begin the healing process.
I'm an alcoholic, the very first thing you have to do to recover is admit there's a problem. If you don't admit that, you're never going to make it. That is literally the 1st step towards sobriety, it's the first step towards healing. You have to acknowledge the problem. Until that's done, we're stuck.

So, the plan has been all along to mire them in poverty using systemic racism and when the signs of generational poverty and oppression show themselves, use it to justify systemic racism.

I'm baffled why liberal states complain that whites and Asians are challenged more in education, yet they do nothing about it despite thinking it's going to improve black achievement. With conservatives, we already know they don't want to look at racial issues, but Democrats are presented with them and don't follow through. There is no reason why liberal states can't force a change in special education to place less minorities in there and ADD gifted classes to districts with lots of minorities, so the brighter ones can be challenged more academically.

Oh boy. A common complaint is that affluent areas offer more challenging curriculum. This is absolutely bonkers when you consider how much the public spends on education per student, yet the gap remains year after year.

It's not "systemic racism". Blacks are actually less likely to be placed into special education when you factor in achievement and SES, which is why some liberals suggest we need MORE minorities in special ed. It's not racist teachers either. The disparities start early at home.

I guess this is as good a place as any to remind people about Seattle.
A while back the city took the standpoint that all whites are racist and only whites can be racist, and started teaching that in their public school system.
I'm sure if they still do today, but at the time it went over extremely well with both white and black residents of the city.

Did you see the title of the article? It's another unequal racial outcome that some say is "systemic racism", yet the gap persist each year because liberals refuse to change the status quo. It's definitely one of the reasons why they say affluent people (read: white and Asian) have "better" schools. Why would you deny a school is better for having more challenging curriculum for the upper quartile of students?


It turns out that more than half a million low-income students and students of color are “missing” from AP and IB participation —students who would benefit from these advanced opportunities if they participated at the same rate as other students.

I believe there is a problem with this although it's definitely not going to be a miracle for POC -- my argument is simply that liberals complain, but they've done a very poor job addressing the curriculum for top performing POC. I was in a rural school, and we only had a few offerings from the local cc, which had to be paid for. No AP whatsoever, despite NY spending a lot per student.

Edit: Not just college-level either. If liberals are going to bitch about poor schools for minorities, put up or shut up. They care far more about lining the pockets of the teachers and administrators apparently.

About one-quarter of high schools that serve the highest percentage of black and Hispanic students don't even offer a second year of algebra, according to the Education Department, even though two years of algebra are usually required for college-level courses in math and science.
