Cheiftec Black tower with door - no PSU at Newegg.com 49+

I got this last week, pretty schweet. It is indistinguishable from an Antec (because Chieftech makes Antec cases), but cheaper. Highly recommend -- just be prepared to pony up for the separate power supply. I had a free PS, so that's why I bought this one without.
 
I love these cases, I just hate that blueberry handle, I guess I could use vinyl dye on it when I do my drives... I am planning on getting a chieftec,chenming,antec sx1000. I just don't know if getting one in royal/electric blue from designcomp is worth 35 bucks more.
 
Nice case for cheap(does anyone in their right mind buy an actual Antec-branded case anymore), but it brings up one of my pet peeves

Am I the only one that, when I hear "Black Tower" thinks its a full-tower case?
People should pick one of the types of towers:
---Sub-ATX cases----
Micro-ATX(fits flexatx or microatx motherboards)
minitower(Just barely fits full ATX spec's)
---ATX cases----
mid-tower(they refer to this as workstation tower, this is roughly a Lian-Li PC60 size)
full-tower(Lian Li PC-70 size, also Antec sx1240 size)
server-tower(Lian Li PC-76 size, also more expensive server sizes)


Virtually all cases(>90%) sold today are tower cases of some type, why not specify?
 
I just bought one of these. It's a nice case, and even came with 2 fans installed. Everyone jump on this if you are in the market for a case.

did yours have the blue latch? I was looking at the pictures and the one w/o the PSU shows the blue latch, but in the pictures of the same case with PSU, from behind you can see the edge of the latch, and it's black.
 
Yeah, the blueberry handle does look out of place. :\

When are they gonna get in some of the beige colored ones with a 300W PSU for $59?! :\
 
:Quh oh.. made the mistake of lookin' at antecs website... Have u seen the new server series? the 1080b with 430 w PS? IT's like a modded 1040b now with a fan in the side panel and a port replicator (usb and firewire) up front. Has multiple HDD LED's and the fan mounts are grey now instead of gross purple.

The new antec PS is supposedly very quiet too.

Wonder if cheiftech makes this case now too.

And speaking of the new Antecs (Performance Plus Series), I like the way they look, the lines are more sleek. 😉 😀 Too bad no one stocks them yet, except for Antec. 🙁 The 1080B is going for $179 (with 400watt PSU)! :Q 🙁
 
I bought this recently. It's very nice, and other than color, it's identical to my Antec 1030B case. The black looks nicer IMO than the charcoal. The handle IS gross looking. Recommended PSU--> Antec PP510D 😎

I really like how they stuck the usb/firewire ports under the flip-up logo. may have to get this case for next project later this summer.

Nope, CHEMNING makes chieftec, antec, enermax, alienware cases. Chieftec DX/DA/TA series etc i think there are a few more... enermax sx1000 series, Enermax FS series (710 etc), and alienware cases..im sure i missed some but too lazy to think now 😛
 
I ordered a Cheiftec from Newegg and the PS was opened, and the rails bent 🙁

Other than that, great case 🙂

Its not modded, it just has the qualities that sets it apart from the rest

The only thing probably different about antec cases from the other 10xx/8xx is that they have a filter, "smartfans", and "smart powersuppy", a manual, and thats it. But $130 for an antec 1040 and $69 (awhile ago) for a chieftech with the same exact psu in the 1040 is a major difference.

Just wanted to say "great job" on that review you did. I have purchased this case 4 times in the past 2 years and read scores of reviews about it...Yours is the best by far. I agree with everything you said in it.

If you guys have not read it yet, check it out.
 
Of course none of these are in stock! :disgust: Anyone have any opinions as to if they will ever get anymore in?
