I'm sick as a dog and have been for several days... I feel like crap and have little to no will to do anything constructive... it's a dreary rainy day in Tennessee... what's a strapping young man to do in this situation???

I'll tell you:

I'm playing the "endless setlist" on Rock Band 2. One entire day - 84 songs. I'm only breaking for snot checks / coughing fits, restroom breaks, and the occasional sustenance/medication timeout.

I'm 5 hours into it so far, which equates to 52/84 songs. My eyes are crying for Visene, my brain is numb, and my hands & wrists are hurting, but I think I have enough to go the distance.

Cheer me on, wish me luck. I'll post back periodically with progress updates.

Three of us rotated to do expert guitar/expert bass straight through. It stopped being fun after like 15 min, and that's with a break every 3 songs.

Good luck man!

Update: 10 more songs in the bag. I'm now 62/84 of the way there...

I think its the sickness, but I'm getting really hot and sweaty. "Teenage Riot" nearly did me in - that is possibly the most sucktastic song ever when hopped up on cold meds.

Pain report:
wrists/fingers are aching, but probably going to make it
neck has started to hurt
eyes are getting buggy
ass is hurting - been sitting on a hard kitchen chair for ~6 hours
I'm pretty short of breath
it's getting hard to concentrate

I think the songs in the setlist are in order of difficulty. I'm really beginning to worry about the last 12 songs - the ones in the "impossible" category. Hopefully I'm man enough to push through for the victory.

I've got to go take an antihistamine to dry up my head - that ought to make things... interesting.

I'll report back when 10 more songs are done.

I've never even though I'd have the ability to do that when feeling alright. Let alone feeling sick.
I think one of my days of sickness a few weeks back I played a little Rockband, but then decided it really wasn't a good idea. Couldn't really do much of anything, other than nef endlessly. That's like all I did for nearly a week because I just couldn't do anything else.

UPDATE: 12 to go

These are the 12 that I fear the most. This is where the boys are separated from the men. These are the that songs that have been categorized with a fearful label: "impossible". I'm 72/84 of the way there and I'm not stopping until I either make it, or the medics pry the guitar from my gnarled fingers.

Status:
Things all over are starting to hurt. I have ligament damage in my left hand from an old injury, which I reaggravated last week when I fell while skiing. Let's just say that it's feeling really sweet right now. The knuckle on my left pinky feels like its the size of a baseball. The previously minor annoying pain in my neck has become a full blown muscle spasm. My concentration is shot all to pieces - I'm missing some easy notes & chords. On the bright side, the cold medicine has given me an artificial second wind, so I'm able to ignore all the other crap that I'm feeling.

One downer: the wife has been coming in the living room and nagging me to let her go on a big expensive trip to Vegas with some of her friends. It isn't helping the concentration problem any.

Also, I'm starting to wonder how long the batteries in the guitar can last. I haven't changed them in a long long time...

I think I'll go get a drink, then get on the home stretch...

Don't die. Or, if you do, write a funny story about it beforehand and get your wife to post it. After all, if you're going to go out you don't want it to be Syringer or Goosemaster-style.

...and then there was 1

I've done 83/84. Mrs. Ned had to run an errand, but wanted to see me complete the set, so I'm waiting. I think the final song is Painkiller from Judas Priest.

"Visions" nearly took me out. I hate that crap. I don't even consider it to be a song - its more noise than anything else.

I'm starved, tired, and hurting, but I've got enough for just one more. I just wish she would get home.......

Holy Hot Malted Chihuahua pants!!!!

It's a done deal. For the record, I started at 8:30 this morning, and just finished at 5pm.

Would I do it again? Absolutely not.

Was it worth it? Kind of - I now have major bragging rights among my geek friends.

I think I'm going to go outside and play now.
