Cheepest card that I could plug guitar into?

Hey folks, another little question from me. Anyone know of the cheepest card I could grab that would allow direct plug in from a guitar? Or is this not possible, ie. I would have to run it through my amp first?

Any card with a mic in should work. Just need a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter.

Or you could get a GuitarPort for $100 which comes with several sweet effects and GREAT sound quality.

Hmm, a bit steep for me right now, but looks cool 😎 I wonder if I can find one used for around 50 or so 😉

Wow, can't even find one of these things used. Bleh, anyone know something similar to the GuitarPort that is cheaper?

sound blaster live comes with software effects with the driver. there arent any pedals/switches though. you can get a cheap regular live (not audigy) really cheap now.
