Checksum Error - ECS K7S5A

I have just recently upgraded my mobo to the K7S5A, and im impressed with it, specially for the price compared with some of the other boards available. granted i did upgrade from a very old giga-byte board (GA-7IXE4) which did suck, so i haven't had much to compare it with. Never the less the ECS one has been fine, apart from one thing, and im puzzled whats causing it and how i can fix it :?

When i startup the computer, it passes all the tests and detects ide devices, but it sometimes stops with a checksum error (checksum cmos, i think it said) and i have to enter setup, reset to defaults, and then change back the few things like clock. although not exactly hard, its a pain having to do it each time. Any ideas on what could be causing this ?

when i first powered the board, i thought i saw a message about cmos battery being low :/ maybe it is that

kmike75 is correct, many of the POS KTS batteries shipped in the K7S5As were faulty and either arrive DOA or die within the first couple of months. Mine lasted approx. 2months before dying and after replacing it with a Sony it ran flawlessly.

In many manuals they make battery changing sound like brain surgery...like you gotta run a wire up your butt or something. It ain't that tough. Power down, off, and unplug. Reach in that sucker, snap out the battery, take it to Radio Shack and get another. Reach in that sucker a second time and snap it in. You will have by installing the new battery, reset the bios, so any changes you made when you installed the board will have to be made again.
