Checking individual raid disks in possible raid-0 failure

Hey everyone,

I hope my topic wasn't confusing, but here's my problem. I have a 3 year old system that I purchased from a custom system manufacturer which came with 2 10k-rpm 75GB drives in a raid-0 configuration. Despite the raid-0 configuration, the array was partitioned in 75GB partitions.

About a year ago, the computer PSU and possibly other components failed due to the Liquid Coolant reservoir cracking, leaking and shorting out the PSU.

I'd like to check and see if the 2 drives are still serviceable and if the data on them is recoverable, but I don't know how to externally connect two raid-0 drives or if that's even possible. I'm assuming that it's not possible to check them individually.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I currently don't have another computer with a raid controller to just toss these drives in.

If you can restore your system to service or place the drives in a system with an indentical RAID controller connected to identical ports, you may be able to transfer the information for the RAID volume intact.

I believe there are programs out there that can recreate a RAID array in software as long as the RAID array didn't use any esoteric settings, but I don't have any experience with them.

I'm not clear if your question is 1) can you test the physical drives to see if they work or 2) test the RAID0 set to see if it's still alive.

for 1) you can just plug them in and test them. It sounds like they are SCSI, which means you would need an external SCSI connector....or fibre channel. If it's SATA it would be easy to add an external SATA to USB dock and spin them up.

It's difficult to know without more information.
