What do you guys use to check the hashes of files? I have the command-line one from MS but I'm looking for something easy, like something from a right-click context menu that will show you all the various hashes for a file. Thanks.

Nero has a md5sum verifier program. It doesn't have right-click, but otherwise, its a GUI interface. Here is the link,

Ok wait, scratch that. Here is something that is exactly what you are asking for. A context menu md5sum generator for XP,

I've just installed it myself. Hmm... it doesn't give you a progress bar, so if you try md5sum of a linux iso, it will take a minute or 2. But you get the result in the end.

Thanks guys but how about a program that will give both the MD5 and SHA1 hashes?

Modelworks,

that's a great piece of software! Hashtab. I wonder how I missed it? It's usage is a bit different than I expected though.

It's not really a context menu that it installs. You need to right-click and select the file properties. You'll see that a new tab has been added at the top.

What I really like is that this one shows the hash progress! So I could tell that my system was not stuck!

Thanks!!
