Nice. I really don't have anything to add except that you don't list a CPU cooler. I personally like Zalman CNPS 7000, but many in this forum like Thermalright XP-120.
Since you're buying 175 instead of 165 i assume you don't intend to overclock?
The money saved there could get you GTX 512 (if you can find it) which yould probably do better for the res you intend to play at ;)

I certainly don't see any compatibility issues, but those are pretty limited anyway. Only suggestion I personally would make is more RAM. I assume from the build that you intend to use this rig for gaming, and 1gig is right on the edge of not enough already.

That's just plain badass, I would only do one thing to the setup, add another GB of memory.....otherwise it's a great build.

And if you are not going to overclock, Corsair value is a fine choice instead of XMS. I also have been going the 2 DVD burner route and skipping the ROM drive.

I am also personally boycotting anything with the Sony label on it; due to their recent fiascos with DRM and announcement that they plan to release CDs that will only play 100 times.

I don?t know much about OC memory, so is there anything you might recommend that would be beneficial to my system. Here?s the link to the current memory stick I have http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820145504

Thanks

Thanks

2GB of VS if no OC

Also, what is the difference between the GTX you listed and say, the eVGA, or another brand. Why is it so expensive?

Edit, NM, I see, OC. Cheaper price though, free 2-day shipping.

I'd change the PSU and the memory...

The one you're having now is reaching towards perfection, but at a hefty cost... You can easily go with something a bit "lesser", to lower the costs somewhat... This is a very powerful and stable PSU as well, it provides 550W and 38A spread over the two 12V rails... It has fully sleeved cables and is also SLI certified, but costs $ 140 less...

With the money you save, you can buy yourself an additional GB of RAM, which will prove a lot more useful IMHO... This is some high quality RAM at a reasonable price...

For the little bonus, I would also consider changing the DVD-ROM for a DVD writer, and buying an Arctic Cooling Freezer64 (ZZF has these for $ 32.49, unfortunately they're out of stock for the moment :(), because it costs only half as much as an XP-120 and cools your CPU very good too, whilst being very silent...

The money saved there could get you GTX 512 (if you can find it) which yould probably do better for the res you intend to play at ;)

I'd have to agree... If you want to stick with Dual Core, buy yourself a regular AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ for $ 200 less, and overclock it... It shouldn't be too difficult to attain the same level of power as that of an Opteron...

And next to it, you could also purchase this, which, in combination with the X2 3800+, would already give you higher frame rates than a regular 7800GTX with an Opteron...

The only problem with this Asus mobo is that there are a few bugs that need to be fixed. The reason why I'm getting this PSU is because there are a lot of PSU out there that aren't working with this board. As take from the Asus forum:

"PSU tip: You will save yourself a lot of headache if you buy a GOOD 600W or better PSU with this motherboard. Antec 550W and below PSUs are generally NOT working with this motherboard. Weak +12V amperage ratings seem to be the cause (thanks Julio).

Here are the recommended (and known working) PSUs that forum members have had success with:

* PC Power and Cooling Turbocool 510SLI (I have tried this personally and it's brilliant, but expensive). Note, I have tested this with MY configuration (5 hard drives and a SINGLE 7800GT
) but not with two graphics cards in SLI. I assume it will work, though.
* Enermax 600W SLI model. (mentioned by a few people to work)
* Seasonic S12-600 600Watt PSU. (mentioned by MANY people to work)
* OCZ PowerStream 600W. (anandtech.com uses this PSU in their benchmarks so it has to be good, right?)"

I've got the list updated just gotta post it. Do it tomorrow when I have some time. Almost time for work. Thanks for everyone's replies.
