Inserting an index entry into index $0 of file 25.

it just keeps repeating this with no change for about 5 minutes or so. is it stuck on that or is it actually doing something?
 
i turned it off and tried to boot into windows. it worked, but tons of files are corrupt.

maybe i'll try checkdisk again and let it run longer to see if it gets any further. or should i just format and start over and not even bother with it? it's not my pc, but it belongs to a guy that works for the same company i do.
