Just got back from my local Walmart (metro atlanta) and found the Sony E-marker on the clearance rack in electronics for $4.00...

Your mileage may vary, but keep an eye out for them.

Nice find - hope I can find some. Any idea if the .com has these on clearance too? I want one so bad, but just can't break down and spend the $20 Amazon wants for them.

what the heck? i've never heard of an e-marker before. interesting...

e-marker

so does it recognize songs, or does it record the song to recognize it later?

personally, i just use BuzzHits to find out the names and artists of songs i hear on the radio.

thx for the deal, gwbaker!

Neither, all it does is record the timestamp when you click it. When you get back to your computer you tell it what radio station you were listening to, and it checks the timestamp in memory against the listing of what that radio station played on that day, and tells you the results. I guess it could be convenient, but it's really nothing to go nuts over.

For four bucks though, it's pretty nifty...even if I don't really listen to the radio..

..thanks for the heads up!

Yup - For $4 it sounds pretty neat.
For $20 it sounds like an answer to a question that no one asked.

Can you grab me one (gwbaker?), if not, where in Walmart were they.. in the CD case lockup? IT's so small, it had to be locked up somewhere..
how many were left.. was it just display only?

I didn't find any at Walmart.com(online)..
btw: buzzhits is only for the san francisco market apparently,
and www.starcd.com is temp offline.. sigh

What lithium battery does it take? 2025? And didn't these things just come out in retail stores about 2 months ago?

Fastest item to ever reach the clearance rack I'd imagine.

Yeah, SoCal is definately a no-go. Maybe they are clearing them out in areas that don't have Radio Stations that offer the service?

Sorry folks, it appears to be only one store. Checked a few other store in the area and they did not have them at the marked down price.

As for the no station using theory, nope... about 18 stations in metro atlanta using it now.

Oh well thought maybe someone else could benefit, but it appears only this store, and they are gone now. I stopped back by to pick up another and they had all dissappeared.
