I wonder if buying from Onsale.com counts (before they merged) That's probably the only reason my name is on the email list. I don't even recall shopping from Egghead before.

[edit] Just found out that they ask a security question - not good! I hope the hackers didn't get ahold of that.

Hmmm.. just got an email from egghead, and I don't recall buying from them or onsale.com as well.. guess i'll have to go over my statement with a fine tooth comb this month.

So I updated my information at Egghead, and when it sent me a confirmation email to show me what I changed, I noticed they _do_ have one of my credit cards on file! I guess it's time to call the bank and get it reissued.

Hi Guys, For those of you that had a credit card on file with egghead, when you go to their site now and look at your user information, does your credit card info show up? I haven't purchased anything from them since May. I thought that I did have my credit card info stored there, but now when I look at my user info the credit card area is blank? I'm wondering if they deleted everyone's credit card info this week?

Update: When I update my egghead info the email that they sent me does have the last 4 digits of my credit card. But when you look at the account on their site it doesn't show up. I guess their main database was hacked.

nippyjun:

No, that field is for updating only. There's no reason your credit card information should show up there, although I wish they had a method to remove the old number.

Besides, what's done is done - if your see your old number there cancel that card and get a new one!

I just received a letter from my CC co. stating that my number was compromised. They canceled my number and are sending me a new card. I haven't seen any strange charges on it yet. (well, besides all the crap I've bought from the "hot deals"!

Just rec'd my statement today, charged $10.23 on 12/15 by GLOBAL TELECOM MOSCOW RU 🙁 Card now has a block on it, I have to call in the a.m. and report it to their fraud department.

Russian Hackers at Global Telecom got me for $14.65 on my First USA Visa.

I also shopped at egghead about 1 year ago..

this may be of spome help for thosew of you changing your personal information information. I have worked as an order taker and i can give you some helpfull CC info. for instance if they give you a big deal for changing you visa # to 0000.... then make sure that the first # is a 4 and that you have 16 digits. for instance i would change mine to 4111-1111-1111-1111. Visa woudln't issure this card to anyone so it shouldn't have any bad side affects. for a mastercard you need to do the same as the visa but the first # must be a 5. For a discover card the first 4 digits must be 6011 so I would change it to 6011-1111-1111-1111. Discover wouldn't issure this card # to anyone so you don't have to worry about conflicts. American express just sux and i'm not sure if my memory is correct about that one so i'll leave it be. hopefully these tips will help you if you are trying to change your information just in case something like this happens to you. i hope this was helpfull and if you have any comments feel free tp PM me.

Fingers

Visa sent me a new card last month because of the egghead problem, I didn't even know that I was going to get a new card and never contacted Visa regarding the problem. How much did the CC companies have to pay out to issue all those new cards, guess our interest rate and fees are gonna go up...
