stepping SLALS, batch L719B. unfortuantely FSB wall at 440, so no 2GHz overclock
even though vcore and temp are good.

screenshot

Update:this is now stable at 3.5 at stock volt (1.28, 1.216 under load).

Oh, very nice! Looks like budget OCing processors from Intel just got to be a much, much, much better value.

$70-85 chips that OC to 3.5 ghz for the average Joe? Yes please!

70 or 85?! I've seen e2140's for as low as 45 dollars! I bought mine like 6 months ago or longer(can't remember) for 65! If it was in a better mobo I'd definitely break 333fsb, the mobo just sucks for OCing, but then again it's my media pc so *shrug* im cool with just a free 200 to 266fsb oc still using 1.18vcore rofl =)

You just got to love these chips! I am having fun clocking mine (e2160) up. Sits now at 277x9 for now @ 1.2875v <-------------lowest it can go in bios. Great job in your overclock there demiurge3141! :D

Edit: 1.2875. Typo.

Wow. 3.5GHz out of an E2140? That's outrageous!

When did G0 stepping for the E2000 series come out? I didn't keep up with those and last time I saw the transition was from L2->M0.

I tried Intel sSpec finder and there was no E2140 G0... Wonder if it's a Q6600 reject or some such? Both my E2140 and E2160 (M0) stopped @425FSB.

Would you mind confirming it by popping the IHS? :D

No need for that, I looked at the caps underneath the chip and they are arranged
exactly like the E6's, so I think these are just E6's with bad cache.

I google for slals, apparently they appear as oem chips, and they are all the rage in china. I see reports of 3.6G at stock volts and 4G on air cooling.......

Who needs 45nm when you can hit 4G with 2140?

I dug my screenshots and realized that I did it, too!

It was Prime stable up to 425FSB, I recall. Maybe I should take it out and try it on a newer board. (I've kept it away as a memorable that gave me 100%+ OC for the first time)

Edit: The vCore in that Pi shot is wrong. I don't remember what exactly it was but it was probably somewhere around 1.40V, considering 1.38V for 3.4GHz.

If there is to be an E3xxx series as early as June, a G0 E2xxx wouldn't have much time to shine...

I'm highly skeptical of those numbers

how do these budget chips when ocd to 3.2-3.5 ghz or so compared to my e6750 at 3.2 ghz or like an e8400 stock. just wondering how much difference the extra cache makes. perhaps this cpu was a waste of money if overclocking the cheap ones high is so easy.

1.275? At 277? I'm at 278*9 at much lower vCore. I think I'm at 1.14xx or 1.15xx though I can't check now. Those numbers haven't been primed yet but I can play games and do my Maya homework just fine. I tried lower but my chip just said no. Lowest I could go at 300x9 was 1.2000 or 1.2625 (whatever the next step is) with my M0. Are you sure that's the absolute lowest you can go?

Edit

Exact numbers now in sig. These G0 chips look pretty good, too bad I just bought my E2160 a few months ago, it's just not worth the upgrade... now a Q9450... :p

Well, I am testing this chip on an Intel 975XBX2 and the lowest setting Intel will let me go in bios is 1.2875. Had to edit earlier as it was a typo BTW. Sorry bout that. Anyway, Been playing around this thing and crazy things have happened. But long story short, I OCCD'd @ this setting of 277x9 using 4x1024 corsair memory and stable as can be. Temps @ Idol are around 30 and Load Max out @ 55.

Edit: next step is to remove 2 sticks of ram and move up the ladder, so to speak.

I can't say for sure but I'm kind of remembering seeing e2140's at Fry's B&M in Manhattan Beach, CA for like 50 usd? Great buy for a budget OC.

So as "aigomorla" so eloquently puts it, Quote: WTF they change the steppings again?
