Calling that a Mini, is like calling this a Mustang. To each his own, but I can't get into it.

Maybe I saw the pics wrong, but the whole front half of the car is an original Mini body

some 60s domestic piece of sh!t sports car that only a few select people even care about anymore?
Woah woah woah, I know you're trying to make a point, but you'd be lying if you said that a "few select people" care about the Shelby Cobra! :frown: It's the most imitated car of it's time, and it enabled Shelby to start a sports car revolution. It set the high bar for sports cars everywhere for *decades*, you can't call that a POS :|
You got my point, that's all that matters. :p

I was just being brash. I know what you say is true, but I still stand by my little "few select people even care about anymore" comment. ;) I am sure they have quite a following, but that doesen't include the masses.

As for whether it's a POS or not... i really have no idea, but it seemed fitting next to "domestic". ;)

Regardless, it doesen't matter.. we don't need to argue about it. I know the heritage of the Shelby Cobra, I wasn't questioning that.. I was just trying to make a point... a point which I do believe is valid.

The guy didn't have visions of the Shelby Cobra in his mind while building this thing. :p

Same thing!
It isn't the same thing, unless the guy took something elses chassis and just fit the Mini body on it.

I guess I didn't look at the site enough, but whatever... if that's what he did.

What about that classic car that Jay Leno had completely redone? It's a franken-car too, but you still call it by the original model, because that's what it looks like.

I don't know what car Jay slapped together, but I saw the bike he commisioned Orange County Chopper to build, and it SUCKED! Sometimes projects aren't well thought out, or thought out well, but poorly executed.

Here's the article

It's a good read. :) I enjoyed it, at least.

That's just the thing, though. This project appears to be both thought out well, and executed wonderfully.

The overall project may not be your thing, but you really need to give credit where credit is due. Anybody with an open "engineering" mind wouldn't look at that and say, "What's the point?", "Retarded!", "WTF did this abortion of a project accomplish?", etc.. I mean it's ridiculous.

The whole point was doing it. That's it. That is the whole point. There is nothing more. He wanted to do it, it was his vision, and he did an excellent job! How can you say that's retarded?

Like I said.. when you design, plan, and build a project like that.. get back to me. It won't be my artistic vision, so of course I will be forced to talk about how retarded it is... :p

I am sorry if you cannot see what I am trying to say. Go have some more coffee.

It flies in the face of everything a Mini stands for, and there's nothing left of a Mini in there anyway, except having a bit of it's sheet metal slapped on there.

At first glance, I thought the title was "..Mimi vs a V8". I quickly clicked on the thread, then the link only to find out I need to pay more attn to the titles.

I can see you point if you take pride in Mini's or admire the original ones that much, which I honestly don't so it doesn't bug me if someone hacks on up. If you're really into the original spirit of a Mini then I can see how this car would be an abomonation :)
