I'm on the verge of ordering the parts, just need an OK from you folks for peace of mind :)

Case: Antec Performance I 1.2mm Aluminum ATX Mid Tower (P-160WF)
Fans: 2x120mm (included in case)
PSU: OCZ Powerstream 520W (OCZ520ADJ)
CPU: AMD Athlon64 3200+ Venice 939 (ADA3200BPBOX)
Mobo: DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 ULTRA-D
RAM: OCZ Value 2x512MB DDR400 (OCZ4001024WV3DC-K)
HD1 (system): Western Digital Raptor 74GB (WD740GD)
HD2 (storage): Seagate 7200.8 300GB SATA (ST3300831AS)
Optical: NEC ND-3520A
Floppy: Mitsumi Floppy/Card reader (FA404A/404M)
Video: eVGA GeForce 6600 GT (128P2N368TX)
Audio: Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (70SB035000003)

Haven't decided on speakers or keyboard/mouse, but those aren't really major components.

Any problems with this setup? Any specific recommendations? Anything I'm forgetting? I plan to OC CPU/RAM, maybe GPU.

A few other things:
- I need recommendations on an internal capture card. TV Tuner is nice but not necessary. I primarily want to record game footage from PS2 and convert VHS tapes to .avi.
- How do widescreen displays handle video/games at 4:3 resolutions? I'm guessing black bars, but I want to know for sure.

Yeah, great system. The only problem I would have is that break out box that the SB platinum comes with... Do you really need it? If not, get an Audigy 2 ZS value/gamer edition.

PSU looks good, just to make sure, that is ATX v2.3, right?

You couldn't be more wrong.

Your system sucks. Send it to me. PM me for shipping info.

Your games should run fine if they support that resolution.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the Audigy has already been bought. It's still sitting in its box, but I picked it up during a rebate period a few months ago. With the rebate the price was great, and the breakout box is cool :).

According to this product data sheet from OCZ: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/OCZPowerStream.pdf

the powersupply is only ATX 2.0 compliant, though the data sheet is from 2003. I actually hadn't considered the ATX specifications. Any ATX2.3 PSU recommendations?

>> You couldn't be more wrong.

I should rephrase. I meant they're not really critical for building the system. I can always use my old mouse/keyboard until I decide.

>> Your games should run fine if they support that resolution.

Right, but what if they don't support widescreen resolutions? Is it black bars or stretching? Or something else entirely? :p

Oh, and I'd like to add one more query. For those of you with silver-colored aluminum cases, how do beige/black drives look in them? I'm having a hard time finding drives with black faceplates, and the Audigy breakout box only comes in black/white :(

That power suppy is a good choice. I have the 420w version and I have been very impressed by it. You can't really beat a 5 year warranty. Especially for the first 3 years they just send you a brand new unit.

Your sytem will use no where near 520w, but if you have the money, it is always good to leave a little headroom, as you probably will have that power supply for several upgrades.

My mistake, throughout this whole thread, I believe i meant ATX 2.0.

Sorry for the recent confusion!, but check out that article anyway, it may persuade you to change your mind!

looks like a great system though you could drop down to a regular audigy and or drop the raptor, and put the savings into a X800XL or 6800GT.

If you game its probably worth getting a beefier card.

Most of the great quality power supplies....Seasonic and OCZ are "only" ATX 2.0 compliant. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

He already has the Audigy. However, if you have the extra cash, a X800XL is not a bad choice to go with.

I have a 6600GT and I am very happy with it, but I will have to upgrade it before I would have to upgrade an X800XL.

Not a problem. I did some more research due to this confusion, and it occured to me to check the number of SATA connectors and whatnot, since I eventually plan to add two more storage drives.

I do the majority of my gaming on console. The 6600GT is basically a "if I ever want to play a PC game, I'll at least be able to run it" kind of thing. On PC the most I ever play is old-school stuff like Starcraft (never gets old), though I'm currently looking into Guild Wars, which I think the 6600GT should be able to handle anyway.

The raptor is an indulgence, I know. Though, I will be doing a lot of video encoding, as well as running mounted disc images, so it's not entirely a waste of money.
