"Check S Cable"

I just shipped a computer to a good friend of mine, and the pc was runing fine at home, when she got it and hook up the monitor, keyboard and mouse, at boot up the computer would look at a black screen with this error "check s cable". anybody have any clues.
I forgot , she is runing windows ME .

Like I say the system was runing just fine before shipping, and there are no pc cards other than a modem. the video and sound are onboard.

Check the VGA cable..possibly ..?

Google search brought up only a few hits referring to an old Digital monitor. It's the monitor itself warning the user to check the signal cable, it's not the computer. I would say she's either using a monitor that's not compatible, or she just hasn't plugged it in. If you shipped the monitor to her with the machine, then it may have been damaged in shipping.

I may have been damage I think, the monitor was tested before I shipped it out on my pc, with the same OS she has. I think it could be a bad monitor, well see she went bought a new monitor and Im expecting to hear from her in the morning .

Really though, are you sure she's plugged the cable in right? Does she know enough about computers to have not crammed the VGA cable into a serial port?

Could be bent pins in the monitor cable too, have her look.

the bend pin theory sounds very likely to me, and yes, she dont know enought about computers either so she could just have cram the cable in there, I will call in the morning and have her check the pins for bend once, thanks a lot guys
