eraser had the same situation. He just got someone who actually checked the records for the next shipment. I would order anyway.

I ordered my e6600 at 3:17 EST. I just cheked the order status and it says backordered.

For Canucks TigerDirect.ca seems to have all the chips in stock, but overpriced (E6600 is roughly 416US @ 460CDN).

TigerDirect in Canada is famous for having ridiculus pricing. I only go there if I need to check some exotic Hardware or Mobo. But I never buy anything from there, simply because of their pricing. Literally, few days ago they were selling X2 3800 for > $400 CAD, while other shops had it for about $325-330 CAD

Why is TD still taking orders when conroe is backordered????
They even charged my card!!! Hopefully its just an authorization.
Cause if its not...and I see an e6600 somewhere else, I wont be able to get it.

I ordered my E6400 from TD at 3:13pm EST and as of 9:50pm EST it has already shipped, which I can confirm through my UPS tracking number. So, it would appear that those of us who ordered early enough avoided getting placed on backorder.

Same here, my E6700 should be here Monday!

Here is something I'm not too happy about with TigerDirect.

I placed my order by phone today and even though the CSR was very nice and polite, he tried really hard to sell me other things (first time I have this happen to me, though he did a good job, not too pushy)

I had a problem when he decided to ask for the last 4 digits of my S.S. number??????????????????? Why?????????????????????????????????????

He said it was a new thing for verification purposes. I declined and chose to do the "old" credit card verification instead.

Is this a normal procedure now days?

Did you folks happen to catch this bit from TD about your warranty?

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING OUR RETURN POLICY ON CPU'S: Please note that all processors may be returned only for defective exchange. You must purchase a compatible heatsink and fan on the same order as the processor in order to preserve your warranty or exchange privilege. We are not able to accept returns for refunds on processors under any circumstances. All processors will be inspected and tested upon return and any damage caused by poor packaging, overclocking, or other tampering with the processor will be cause for the return to be refused, and exchange denied.

I already have a nice heat sink set aside from my A62 X2 setup that I want to use.

So if I don't also buy a heatsink as well my warranty is null & void?

It does say in stock but if you click on the link it says arriving with in 2-5 days. Which puts it at or around 08/04 like for everyone else.

For a purchase, no, it's not normal procedure. It was good that you refused, as they have no reason for that info because there much more unobtrusive verification methods.

WTF!?!?! They didn't even have the heatsink I wanted! And they were all overpriced! So now sinc eI just ordered thr 6300 and no heastsink, I cant return it if it's DOA!?!?!?!!?

I ordered the overpriced Aerocool GT-1000 CPU cooler with my OEM E6300 from Tiger Direct. I just didn't want to pay for a cheap CPU cooler that I wasn't going to use. I have a UPS tracking # but I should not have cancelled my order with ZZF after they told me it was not going to ship until the 7th because they ended up shipping them out today.

OEM just means it wont come with the retail box, hsf and accessories (and I think it comes with a shorter warranty)

They are the same chips just packaged differently.

OEM = warranty issues
you need to buy a Socket775 heatsink from TigerDirect in the same order as a Socket775 CPU in order to be eligible for a product exchange if the CPU is Dead-On-Arrival

When did you order your processor?

Doh it's up above. So far I haven't heard of any one getting any notices about shipments from orders after the 27th. Hmm, it seems the "shipment coming in tomorrow" might just be a scam. Well they have until Monday night, maybe Tuesday before I cancel.

They already shipped the heatsink I had to buy. You would think they would wait if the processor was going to be in the next couple of days.
