yeah the silentboost is just like a SLK700 (er or was it SK7) too, and they have some new cooler which looks laughably familiar to that nutty gigabyte 3d cooler thing...

somehow they add that extra bit of TT shiatness in the process though.

Serious question here..... how many different and useful shapes can you make a metal into to produce a satisfactory cooler?

Someone obviously has to copy something from someone. Half the heatsinks look roughly the same anyway.

Yes. The Aerocool HT-101 is the best HS out there anyone with ears. This one will perform under the Thermalright SP97 and Aerocool, and require a louder fan to boot.

Yes, but TR, Aerocool, Alpha, Coolermaster (when they decide to go high-end, with one great HS every year or so), and Zalman all put performance in their niches above flashy looks (not they don't all try to make it look flashy, but performance and quality are not sacrificed for it).

Indeed, and you can always spot an Alpha, Swiftech, Thermalright or Zalman heatsink by their looks. All of which are on roughly equal footing when it comes to performance. I really don't care what a heatsink looks like as long as it performs well, so the $$ that ThermalTake spends on dressing up their heatsink is wasted on me.

Ducted out/modding-friendly: Alpha
Quiet plug in and go: Zalman
Quiet w/ minor work: Aerocool (Thermalright if you want spare performance--the HT-101 only struts its stuff w/ fans at very low RPMs)
Nifty/value: Coolermaster
Balanced Perforfance: Thermalright or Zalman, Thermalright being a good safe suggestion for any need, and can always be changed around to suit different needs (IE, from super-cool to super-quiet).
Looks great next to a Honda with plastic silvery rims and a spoiler: Thermaltake.

Not to mention, no picture I've seen yet does justice to Thermalright's finish. The copper really does look awesome.

Edit: just happened upon CeBit stuff from Aerocool...they're going all ricer, too.

You put in a Thermalright SLK-xxx or SP-xx before? Thermaltakes look just like the pics...Thermalright and Alphas aren't done justice with any pics I've seen, IMO. They just look awesome.

Thermalright's 3 heatpipe HS is already top dog. I'm guessing the TT 4 pipe design will take the crown now.
At what cost to my hearing though?


BTW, I noticed my BH7 MB is bowed pretty much from the pressure of my Alpha HS.
Are there aftermarket back plates that can be purchased, or would I have to buy a whole new HS setup?
