Our boss is setting up another production room, as the one we have gets crowded. We use our production room to do commercials, edit recordings, put together things, etc.

Our boss, who won't upgrade anything, has this setup in our new room:

Pentium 90
Windows 95
2x16MB SIMMS
6GB hard drive
14" fishbowl monitor @ 640x480x256

What the heck are we supposed to do with that? The one we have now is way too slow, and it's an AMD K6-3. We're using SAW 4.3, which is admittedly very old, but our system doesn't meet the recommended specs for a 7 year-old piece of software.

Weird, huh?

Update Today:

Me: Boss, I was thinking about the computer in the second production room
Boss: Me too
Me: What's that, a pentium 90 with 32MB of RAM?
Boss: Yeah.
Me: We can't run SAW on that
Boss: I was going to put Cool Edit Pro on it, that way we'll have it and SAW
Me: There is no way that will run on that computer
Boss: Yeah, I know

So an hour later I order a 1.1GHz Duron, 512MB of RAM, and a 40GB 7200rpm drive. $320 with case, mobo, everything.

Boss is happy, jocks are happy. We're upgrading production room 1 as well. Gotta love it when we get good sales on ratings.

That box is great for running a MS Hearts server and that's about it.

My work just installed a firewire card in my P4 1.8 w/ 512mb of ram so that I can edit some short videos. My copy of Premiere hasn't come yet, though.

*cough* you mean you haven't finished the DL? I didn't know people actually paid for Adobe software.

:D

If you have a laptop I'd bring it in. It would certainly be faster then that machine your going to 'attempt' to work with. I just say good luck at doing what your doing. What sort of things are you going to be doing anyway?

Heh jumper OC'ing is not fun, if you screw up you gotta power down un-plug, get inside, and reset the jumpers.
