Just got the Radeon 9800 Pro and I'm doing some initial tweaking. She's an overclocking dream. Not to mention this multivid I scored from gg a month ago. She'll do 3.4 but I don't want to budge the vcore from default, and I have to in order to get a 3.4 o'c stable.

Anyone have higher 3DMark scores?

I know...I've seen a couple of Athlon scores over 20k, but this is the best my rig has produced.

I think I have seen a couple ppl would have those P4C's running at 300fsb had some 19000's I think...I think it was the ones doing 3.6 and 3.8ghz aircooled.....

I am sure that even ppl with Radeon 9700pro but with a p4c running 3.4-3.8ghz with a dual channel 400+ddr mobo like i875 and I think many could do above 18000....


Your limited by memory bandwidth and I believe 3dmark would like the dual channel bandwidth at speeds same as yours...

Hey Technnonut, are you running a AMD platform? They usually do get better 3DMarks than P4 setups.

I am running an ABIT BH7 / 2.53B SL6S2 currently @ 3429MHz / 1.550v.

Nice scores BTW. 🙂 What do you have your 9800 Pro OC'ed to? Mine does 450/351 without breaking a sweat.

EDIT: I see you are @ 451/361... Very nice!
 
I've got an SL6S2 as well but I've been keeping the vcore at default. These Asus boards do some overvolting so even though I have it at 1.525, it says 1.632 with the Asus Probe and MBM and I don't want to get too close to 1.7 if I'm to expect this chip to last a while.

I'm going to give it just a little bump to 1.550 and see if I can get 3.4 stable. You've got me wanting more now... 🙂
 
19,615 in 2dmark2001 with my powercolor radeon 9800 pro (420/370 using RivaTuner) and 2.53@ 3.4GHz(179 fsb) in my abit-ic7. I will probably hit 20,000+ when my 2.4C from googlegear arrives. I cant wait to water-cool my processor and radeon-im in search of the best setup at the moment.🙂

somebody hit 21,000+ in overclockers.com forums.

More importantly, how do you do it without condensation forming?
 
Btw Technonut...yeah no sweat at that o'c. But I think (actually I'm sure of it) excessive heat is keeping me back on the core. I can't touch the PCB directly behind the VPU for more than about 3-5 sec. without burning my finger. I sold my 9700 with this kind of hsf mod: Link

And I'm definitely going to do the same on my 9800. I bet I can easily get another 20-30MHz out of it if I can get it cool. And that mod kept my 9700 absolutely cool to the touch at any stable o'c.

I got this idea from a guy in the forums over at rage3d.com. Here's a link to his site and how he modded his 9700. Follow those directions with the 4-40 screws and tap and it'll turn out just like that. Without having to remove the shim.

I've seen people at rage3d putting these ungodly huge HSF on their 9700's but this little solid copper HS weighs 220gm and is more than enough for excellent air cooling of the VPU. Plus, it only takes up the first PCI slot next to the AGP.

it's no different than a vapochill system. you just seal everything with grease and foam. no biggy. in terms of how the actual dry ice cooling is done, you basically just put a bucket on top of the chip and dump dry ice in. nothing terribly high tech. 🙂
 
Yeah those ar great numbers, but Technonut needs to submit them so they can be seen with the ORB. Anyone can put those numbers on that picture/screen capture with a little Photoshop experience 😉

Not saying that you fudged those in any way TN, but someone who doesn't know you better might think you did. Personally, I've read enough of your posts to know you better than that 🙂
