I do tech support/installation of new computers for the department of corrections for FLorida, we got an order in the other day for the web development team, and check out the specs - 2.8ghz - 1gb ram - 100gb hard drive - dvd-rw and on top of that a 52x cd-rw - sound - dual monitors (a 21 inch crt perfect flat dell brand, and a 15 inch lcd) and here is the kicker - obviously the onboard video couldn't run the dual monirots so guess which video card they got as an addition that we just put in today - the radeon 9800 pro 128megs. I didn't even realize that this thing actually needed to hook up to the power supply via 4 pin molex connector for power. That is ridiculous lol. Also today we printed up an identification sticker for a laptop for one of the security team with 2gb of ram (2 gigs) 1.6p4-m 15.4uxga screen, 64meg gf4 4200 go, 60gb hard drive - cd-rw/dvd combo. On a side note the computer I use in IT died today (dead hard drive) and I didn't have time to install a new one yet because I have been installing all of these computers lol.

Make sure the bad guys stay behind bars... (florida department of corrections) basically each department is allotted money for projects etc - at the end of the year if they don't use it it gets taken away, so of course they all spend it, some departments don't have any to even buy decent comptuers (some are still on pentium pros 200 and some 180mhz too) some buy top of the line stuff and don't spend on other things. We also inventoried 3 dell axims (I don't know how they are writing those off but oh well, I just do tech support heh)

Yeah we have some like that, some computers in the field are 486's... what they do is pass down the computers to departments that don't have as much funding. Thank fully in central office I don't have to deal with 486's lol.
