Never seen fog or a rain forest? 100% humidity would mean there is some visible water vapor in the air

No. I00% humidity means that the air is holding all the water it can.
Has nothing to do with whether there is water vapor present or not.

Look at the dewpoint and current temperature. There IS visible water vapor in the air.
