After a lot of work, we're finally launching Kyte Phone Beta to the public today. It's an Android app that turns any phone into a kids-friendly device with full parental controls.
Once parents install Kyte, takes the phone over with a firendly UI from which kids cannot exit. Kids can then make calls from a list of parent-approved numbers and use any app or game their parents allow them. Using their online dashboard, parents can see their child's location and all phone activity (calls made and games played), as well as quickly change which numbers and apps their kids can use.
Our motivation for doing this is giving parents a great option when buying their child's first phone. Today parents have to settle for a dumbphone, which their kids will hate or a smartphone, which is not quite suitable for young children. With Kyte, kids can get the phone they want and parents the peace of mind they need.
