I have been running this for a week now After installing the OS and programs and getting used to the system then the oc'ing, I think of as tuning rather than oc because I am more interested in system performance rater than numbers.

Anyway I have definitely found the sweet spot for me and I kid you not it is running like a dream......and temps are good.
The temps are decent i idle is around 28-30 c and at extreme load n eve r seceded 44 c. The ram is very good and can easily pass 1Ghz at 5--5-12..
It is very quiet at the setting I am using, There is a slight hum from the Psu and the sound of water!!!
So here it is.

ASUS P5WD-2 Premium

Um that's a great rig, though I have to question why you went with the P4 640. Not interested in Presler?

Becase I got the MB a year ago and th e CPU a month l later. The plan is to change the board and cpu in about a year to Concore or AND M2 wih whetever AMD's multi core will be.

Pobably the later.

To be perfectly honest, I think it sucks. I think you wasted your money on parts that you don't need. This is what I would have done.

A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Opteron 165 or 170
2GB OCZ Platinum PC-5000 3-3-2-7 (windows XP can't use 4GB, It will only detect up to 3 something)
2x 150GB Raptors in Raid 0.
Plextor PX-716AL/SW
2x EVGA 7900GTX Superclocked
Antec P180 Case.

Even though your rig has more fancy stuff like liquid cooling, this rig would quite frankly pwn yours in most games.

Crescent, that was a TAD harsh.

Firstly..

The A8N32 is a crappy board; price-wise and OC wise.

165s and 170s are currently clocking the SAME as X2s. Waste of money. [On your part now.]

Windows XP HOME can't use 3GB... PRO can. GET IT RIGHT. I'm SICK of seeing people post 'waaaa... Windows can't use 4GB...'

Raid0 offers ZERO [Haha.] benefits unless you're transferring gargnatuan files. Thing it does do well? Ensure that if, in fact, you lose a SINGLE HDD, you lose ALL of your Data.

Lets not forget that your solution is half the storage his is.

I currently have one 300Gig drive, and I'm finding myself cramped for space with HD media.

Maybe people enjoy spending some money on a case?
Lian-Li cases are second to one [Silverstone :p].... Antec is no longer the brand it used to be. Nice stuff, but inferior to LL/SS. [Especially in the PSU arena.]

Also, I'd venture to say that two 7900GTXs would be overkill :p Grab one now, and one later.... Currently a "WASTE OF MONEY." [And the prices would be a bit lower in a few months, too ;)]

Water cooling sticks with you for 5+ years. Same with phase. It's a long term investment.

I for one like it.

It gives you room to keep your current RAM [As conroe and AM2 utilize DDR2]

Tons of storage room.
Uber-fast storage for Windows and games where it is necessary....

On the whole, a nice rig.
Like to ask though--what PSU are you using? o_O

Beastly to handle all of that. [I hope.]

That makes sense. You've got the DDR2 all lined up too, which is a plus. Keep your eyes on Conroe, it could be one hell of a chip. AM2 is still a toss-up.

What parts does he think aare a waste of money..Is he a psycic or something.

I built it to my needs.

As for games they play pretty well altough do a lot of multimedia work rather than gaming The Gpu can handle any game or app;ication I have tried ...easly..

Man get a 7900gtx in there or at least a 7900gt, also why didn't u get raid 0? All I'm saying is if I would spend alot of money on a new build I would make sure I'm getting the best performance possible from every part.

only because you are using 2xgpus, for some time now most games are not cpu limited....

Raid0 offers ZERO [Haha.] benefits unless you're transferring gargnatuan files. Thing it does do well? Ensure that if, in fact, you lose a SINGLE HDD, you lose ALL of your Data

If you have one hard drive and it dies you lose all your data as well. So you need to make backups whether you raid or not.

raid0 = no performance + 2 x data loss

Only a person who hasn't used raid would say that. I find two raided drives so much more responsive doing just small things like loading icons, loading thumbnails as well as booting, moving files and whatever else needs to read and write to the hard drive.

Sure games need CPU, GPU and memory to run fast but two 10,000 RPM drives raided give you that everyday peppiness that is hard to live without.

PS: BACKUP EVERYTHING ALL HARD DRIVES DIE EVENTUALLY, with true image 9.0 you really have no excuse.
