I'd put a 120mm fan on the ultima, it should be quieter. I'd buy a corsair 520hx or even the 450vx, the 620hx is pretty much overkill. Why the raptor? And you can buy 4-4-4-12 ram from corsair for 67$ AR, 2gb.

Videocard, hmz hmz, prolly 1950xt, I wouldn't pay much more for a videocard if that is all you play. Oblivion does look godly with a 8800gts or gtx, but is it worth all that extra money? It will still look good on a 1950xt. WoW is such a piece of crap that integrated graphics will run it 😛

At what resolutions will you be gaming? And what does the 520hx cost at clubit.com, that's the question 😉 But 90$ for a 620hx is almost to good of a deal to pass up on. I'd go for it.

Because if you spend 200$, you might as well spend 270$ on a 8800gts 320mb 🙂 And well, the raptor might cut down on loading times, a bit, but you'll get far more performance for the same money if you would spend it on the videocard or another 2gb extra ram.

I'd personaly buy a normal 320-400gb HD and pocket the money you save or invest it into a different component. 100$ saved could be bigger/better monitor, better videocard, more ram, or just 2x 400gb HD's, or soundcard, better case. Be creative ^^

Not sure what resolutions I'll be playing at. 1600x1200 I guess. I'm on a 9800pro right now and I've never gone over 1024x768.

Here's a silly question. I don't need to buy a new PC right now. I can wait. I just thought it would be a good idea because of all the MR's I've been seeing. Would it be better for me to wait till around Black Friday or X-Mas? Would the deals be better then?

Well in a few months well be seeing the x38 chipsets for mobo's, we should be seeing penryn, we should be seeing phenom, g92 from nvidia, 2900pro's from ATI. Everything will have gone down in price by then, and especially since the real blockbuster games still have to come out, it could be worth waiting a little longer so you can get better performance in those games for less money.

I don't know how black friday and x-mas affect prices where you live. In Holland we don't have black friday, and I never really bought anything big around x-mas but I guess with the big competition at that time shops would like to draw the attention from customers with good deals. But right now it's back to school time, no? Which also has it's affect on prices. I dun think it's worth it to wait for better deals. It might be worth it if your current PC is still good enough for you.

of course you can always wait till black friday, cyber monday, or any of the holiday deals but the problem i always came across... you wait, new parts come out, and the research begins all over again. its a never ending circle.

i am buying parts today since certain rebates end today, tomorrow, end of month. been doing research for a while, its time to click the CHECKOUT button.
