DC area. Federal employee. We're closed tomorrow, probably because some of the farther out suburbs aren't dug out yet. Metro's only running to the underground stations still.

Liberal leave. I will probably be the only one who makes it in before noon or at all, but that's because I need Tuesday off.

I live close enough to work that I'd get looked at funny if I took unscheduled leave even when permitted. But have you seen the forecast? We have more coming on Tues/Wed, potentially.

I really don't have anywhere to shovel more snow.

We have been open 24/7/365 since 1981. There's been someone in this room every second of that time.

Nope... City has only gotten about 30cm of snow so far this winter.

Honestly? My company posted a two-hour delay. Didn't know actual companies that weren't schools did that. I probably will work from home though.

Hopefully the government employees don't get paid for doing nothing.

Hey now, they're worth every penny. Think of the millions they pump into the economy by investing their time in voice-mail software, Facebook, and Microsoft Solitaire.

You guys down in DC are going to be days digging out. We've been lucky this winter here in Toronto. I don't think we've even broke 10cm for the whole season. I've only shovelled once so far. Been damn cold though, which is why it's not snowing.

my office is never closed, ever.

a few years back, a state of emergency was declared and all the roads were shutdown... departments where personel were required to have a physical presence had the pre-road closed shift work an extra shift and everyone else on schedule worked from home.

I have a Chevy Blazer which I keep around for just such instances as this so an extra foot or so will not stop me from getting to work. It's the idiots who can't operate their Cavaliers and Metros on dry pavement with any degree of proficiency much less in snow and ice that concern me.
