Check engine light

Recently my 08 kia sportage became louder as I accelerate and now check engine light came on the codes it read were: evaporative emission system leak detected, gross leak/no flow, possible vacuum leak. I do not hear hissing
 
Since you said the car is getting louder, most likely there's some sort of major leak in either the exhaust or intake. My guess would be intake based on the codes you're getting.

Or it is just coincidental the exhaust has rusted apart...in conjunction with a bad gas cap 😛
