Check balance of Amazon Gift Card? How????

Anyone know of a way to check a balance of a Amazon gift card without adding the balance to your account ?

Yep. it only shows previously redeemed gift cards, not a new one you have not added yet.

/edit: n/m, you said without adding it to the account (altho it can be removed once added.)

If it's been added to your account, I'm certain you can do it by adding something to your cart and going thru the checkout process, and it will give you an option to apply said funds to the purchase.

Go to an item as if you're buying something, and then look at the top right where there's this green box where your '1-click' button thingy is. Right below that, you'll see a link for 'redeem a gift card and view balance' or something like that. Click on it.

don't see that option, i don't have prime and 1-click is off.

Add item to cart, take it through checkout until the last page, promotional credits will be automaticallyt applied to the totals so you'll see how much is there and if any is left over the order will be $0.00.

Now, you better not be trying to buy a billion Amazon GCs from the AmazonLocal deal...

OP is asking how does he check the balance on a gift card, not the balance he already has.

I looked around and couldn't find a way. Yes I do see what my current balance is and what I've spent it on, but I don't see anywhere that lets you just type in the gift card code to see what the balance is WITHOUT automatically applying it to your account.

1.) Contact Customer Service for that information. Use the Chat Live feature or call, either way.

2.) It's all or nothing on Amazon. You redeem a gift card, the rest of it goes to your gift card account balance.

Is this a bare code that you got from someone? The certs and cards I've seen all have an amount printed on them.

Kinda dumb that there's field to just type in your card # and get a balance.

CCs and the like (Amex for example) will let you check gift card balances like that.
